Good books on moral theology?

I’ve heard several terms in my reading of Catholic blogs and this forum. Terms like “Natural law,” “intrinsically wrong,” and others are thrown around a lot. While I can generally surmise what they mean, I want to know more

I was recently involved in a discussion with a Protestant friend of mine about moral theology and found my ability to argue for the Catholic viewpoint to be greatly underwhelming. I need a book (or several) to give me a solid basis in my understanding of moral theology in order to understand it more clearly, and ultimately, argue for it more cogently.

What books can you all recommend on this?

Beyond the obvious, The Catechsim of the Catholic Church, I suggest this.

“An Introduction to Moral Theology” by William E. May

“50 Questions on Natural Law” by Charles Rice

Both are available through Ignatius Press (or Amazon).

Germaine Grisez (Catholic moral theologian) has a series of volumes on Catholic moral theology. Very readable, question and answer format

I have Volume 3, but do not yet have Vol 1 & 2, although the titles look interesting.

If you visit Abebooks, one of the dealers has a three-book deal. Abebooks is usually very inexpensive, but in this case they are a little pricey. But check around to the other discount book sellers; you might be able to find these books for a little less.
