Good Books on the Canon

If I were to read just a few books (3-5) on the historical development of the canon of scripture, then which would I read?

(I’m looking for some with good critical scholarship from any perspective and some from an orthodox Christian perspective. Do not include Where We Got the Bible: Our Debt to the Catholic Church. I’ve already read it.)
