Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books on the religious life? Not necessarily about discerning one, but one that talks about the meaning or theological insights into or of a religious vocation? Thanks!

Try “Not a Fan” by Kyle Idleman. I’m not completely sure what it is about as I have never read it, but I had it recommended to me. Check it out. Maybe it will apply to what you are looking for.

Two books come to mind. Theology of Vocations printed by Roman Catholic Books and Religious Vocation, An Unnecessary Mystery printed by TAN. For serious discernment, there are a few more I would recommend. These would satisfy the inquiring mind, I think.

There are literally thousands of such books. What, specifically, are you interested in? If you are interested in exploring the vows and “the lfe” in a meticulous, prayerful, and extremely thorough way, check out Sister (and Dr.) Sandra Schneiders’ Trilogy: Finding the Treasure, Selling All, and Buying the Field. There is also a relatively new book by younger sisters from a variety of communities: “In Our Own Words: Religious Life in a Changing World.”

Less than 90 pages - an inexpensive gem !
Collection of brief letters - from the 17th century -
Written by an Arch Bishop - France -
to a woman - of the court of Louis the fourteenth.
Each letter - brings stronger and clearer advice 😇

Thank y’all so much! All these books look helpful and amazing. I guess I have some reading to do haha. Pax!

There is a big difference between a vocation to religious life and one to priesthood.
