Snapshot looks at 4 magazines I would recommend. The subtitles of each tell the story pretty well, but I’ve added short comments
The Catholic Answer - Your Questions About the Faith Answered: NOT published by Catholic Answers, this is nonetheless an excellent introduction and review of orthodox Catholicism. Two seperate Q&A sections. Very accessible.
This Rock - Catholic Apologetics and Evangelization: Published by Catholic Answers, this site’s owner, this is THE apologetics publication. Subjects here are more advanced than that of the Catholic Answer.
Crisis - Politics, Culture and the Church: There are some apologetic articles here, but the emphasis is more the relationship between the Church and the World. Very interesting stuff, but not a breezy read.
First Things - Though the editor-in-chief , Richard John Neuhaus, is a Roman Catholic priest, this is not a strictly Catholic magazine. But the non-Catholic writers are definitely on the side of truth even if they haven’t gotten to the Truth, yet. (And how many of us have more than a little way to go, too.) The emphasis here is also on culture and politics.
All the above magazines are excellent. I would warn (though I do fear being accused of snobbery), that I’ve put them in what I feel is their order of intellectual challenge. First Things, especially, can be a real mental workout and does not fit the bill if you’re looking for a family magazine.
Hope this helps.
