Good Friday Robbery Outside Church Has Good Ending

This news is a month old, but it is a positive article and it has an update from the end of May.

A man attending holy day services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 7th and T Streets was robbed at gunpoint around 5 a.m. Friday.

Ramirez unfortunately had a lot of cash on him Friday morning. He is planning to attend Seminary in two weeks to become a priest, and had his life savings, about $2,000 in cash, on him. Ramirez was going to give it to a fellow parishioner who does not have a job and needs a new car.

But this Good Friday story has a good ending. A Sacramento man, who wishes to remain anonymous, heard about this crime on the morning news and arrived at Our Lady of Guadalupe a couple hours after the robbery with about $1,000 in cash for Ramirez. The good Samaritan said he was sitting at home watching the story and was touched by Ramirez’s kindness, he found all the cash he had around his home and drove to the church. He then went to an atm nearby, and pulled another $1,000 out of his accounts and gave it to Ramirez.

And, police have arrested the suspected robber.

On April 27th, an officer stopped a suspicious-looking man walking near 28th and C streets. When he tried to approach the man, the man tried to assault the officer and then ran off. Several people chased him, and the man fought back before being taken into custody. Cops found a large amount of cash on him and the gun used in the robbery.

The police have held him since the end of April, since he is ineligible for bail.

Oh, you are most welcome! We see so many negative news stories, I thought it nice to draw attention to a pleasant one. And there were plenty of good things in the story: a soon-to-be seminarian giving away his life savings to help a poor person, a Good Samaritan who unselfishly replaced the stolen cash, the suspect being caught a few days later, the community helping in the chase and apprehension of the suspect… all nice things to read, at least for me.
