Canon Law states that you may not receive Holy Communion more than twice in one day. If Holy Communion is received a second time in one day, it must be in the context of Mass.

There is a “morning prayer” at my parish on Good Friday. I am not sure whether Holy Communion will be distributed during this morning prayer, but if it is, and I were to receive, I would not be able to receive a second time during the Passion of the Lord service that evening, since it is not a Mass, correct? I think I know the answer, I am just double checking.

I think Morning Prayer is the Liturgy of the Hours prayers. Communion is not distributed, so there is no problem.

There is no Communion distributed during The Liturgy of the Hours Morning Prayer.

At my parish the Good Friday morning prayer is the Liturgy of the Hours. No Communion is distributed. If it is at your morning prayer thing just decline to receive if you plan to receive later on.:newidea:

On Good Friday, Holy Communion may only be distributed during the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion. It may also be brought to the sick. On Holy Saturday, Communion may only be given as Viaticum. If a renegade lay-presider at Morning Prayer decided to distribute Holy Communion on Good Friday, you should not receive.

Okay. I wasn’t sure what “Morning Prayer” entailed, I just saw it in the bulletin. Thanks!

Thanks G&S! I didn’t know it was only allowed at the Lord’s Passion.

Basically, Morning Prayer in your parish is from the Liturgy of the Hours. No communion.
