what is a good way to spend good Friday?

We were planning on going to a passion play, then go over to someone’s house with our bible study group and have pancakes and say the rosary together. Could the somewhat social gathering be bad in the since that joking and laughing (not keeping with the somber mood of the day) may take place?

You can laugh. Just don’t crack any jokes.

You can have your social gathering, it is a communal prayer group observing the sorrow and solemnity of the day.

Isn’t good friday a *good *thing? Why not be happy on the day you were saved from your sins?

My husband and I started this tradition last year.

We go to the stations of the cross
Then we have a meatless dinner
And we watch the Passion (last year was the first time I saw it. I was so scared to watch it but it was the perfect day to see that movie. When I saw his hand at the end I just felt so ready for Easter. It just gave me such hope)

I think this year we will add reading the Passion from the Bible.

God bless
