The abortion rebellion: NHS doctors refuse to carry out terminations

thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23392808-details/The+abortion+rebellion%3A+NHS+doctors+refuse+to+carry+out+terminations/article.do

Rising numbers of doctors are refusing to carry out abortions, leading to a crisis in NHS provision.

The stance by staff, taken on ethical grounds, has led to a doubling of abortions carried out by private clinics, according to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

The swell of medical staff joining the unprecedented moral revolt means that there may soon not be enough doctors to carry out sufficient terminations to meet the public demand.

Katherine Guthrie, a spokesman on family planning for the RCOG, said: "You get no thanks for performing abortions. You get spat on. Who admits to friends at a dinner party that they are an abortionist?

“There is an increasing number of young doctors who are not participating in training. The Department of Health is really worried.”

The numbers of terminations carried out in Britain currently stands at a record 190,000 a year. But refusals by its doctors mean that the NHS is having to pay private hospitals to carry out the procedures.

I realize that the private sect is picking up the slack but the fact that private doctors normal come from the public sect and those public doctors are refusing to even be trained in abortion is something positive! It might mean a change in theology in the medical community. every step is a good step!

Yup - 4,000 abortions a day or some girl stabs her new born to death. Both horribly tragic, but I don’t think the 4,000 murders justify the one murder.

Abortion is legal in Minnesota. Lack of abortion did not cause this murder. The mother’s personal sin and societies sin of devaluing life to the point of it being disposible is the cause of all 4001 murders.

This is not a change in theology of the medical community - the medical community does not have a theology to speak of 🙂

This is simple practicality - doctor’s don’t want to be hated. Bear in mind that they get the same pay for aborting babies as they do saving lives (because they are public sector people). So - why get paid the same cash for killing when you can get it for healing?

The private sector (which is still aborting, note) gets paid to do it, and so does it . . . this is financial cyncism (as a large movement - I cannot speak for individual doctors) rather than moral decency.

Then again, to the child who hasn’t been butchered - financial cynicism and moral decency look very similar 🙂

But did you read this part of the article? 😦 😦 😦

Chief executive Ann Furedi said "The current crop of medical students have not themselves seen women dying slowly and painfully after self -induced and unsafe aborneurosurgery in the UK- but if they went to the many countries overseas where abortion is still illegal or only available to rich people, they would see this.

“Abortion is an absolutely essential, life-saving part of medical care - it may not be the most glamorous medical speciality on the face of it, compared to stem cell research or - but it is seen as heroic work by the women that it helps.”
