Good priest to confess to in lehigh valley, pa/New jersey/staten island' ny?

Hi I know the priest shouldn’t matter. I think but kately I have been thinking of converting from athiesm to christianity with the catholic church seeming like a first choice. I was baptised (catholic) as a baby but that’s about it. Then baptised pentecostal at 13. Never went to confession. Visited a catholic church once or twice in my life but thats about it. I was hoping of maybe making an appointment with a priest and doing the whole confession and spirtual guidance thing… Maybe someone knows of a good priest in the ny/nj/pa area ?

It’s a program that teaches people about the Catholic faith, and although many people who join it do so because they wish to join the Catholic Church, joining does not mean you have to become Catholic. I don’t know if non-Catholics can receive the sacrament of reconciliation (what would they be reconciled to? The Church they’re not part of to begin with?), so if you do ask a priest for confession, tell him you aren’t Catholic or that you’re unconfirmed first and see what he says.

The OP is a Baptized Catholic, so confession is possible.

The “NY/NJ/PA area” is quite large.

Would it be possible to narrow down the area?

A really good parish in Allentown, PA is St. Stephen of Hungary. They staffed with FSSP Catholic priests and use the older Latin Mass. But I’m sure they would be excellent confessors http://www.lehighvalleylatinmass.org/

There is another FSSP church in North Jersey. Our Lady of Fatima church in Pequannock, NJ. http://www.olfchapel.org/

In Bethlehem, PA; close to Desales University, there is this Catholic Church:

Also, usually, going to Cathedrals is a pretty good choice too.
