What are some good quality, mostly family friendly, wholesome shows that y’all like? I’m purging myself of all the silly “drama” type shows and when I watch Tv, I’m trying to watch shows that are better for the soul, or at least neutral.

Depends very much on your taste. There was an excellent series a few years ago called Hornblower, about a British naval officer in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. Lots of action, pretty clean, several examples of self-sacrafice and looking out for others. If you like comedies, you can’t beat the old BBC sitcoms. If you like science fiction, the older Star Treks (up to Voyager and for the most part Enterprise) are largely family friendly and mostly free from liberal propoganda. Babylon 5 is also a good one. BBC period dramas are also generally clean and family friendly.

With more recent shows you have more of a problem finding anything that isn’t full of both immorality and liberal messages. But in the thriller category, Bosch and Homeland are pretty good, though not sutiable for children.

For me, my favorite TV show of all time is Bonanza. Not all episodes are equal, but the good ones still stick with me even years later. I could write on forever about all the good things in it, but suffice to say that if you’re looking for something good for the soul, then Bonanza is it.

Not a “TV show”, but the Chosen is a show based on the gospels. If you’re looking for something spiritual, I highly recommend it. They have 8 episodes so far (but it’s a bit of a hassle to get it on your TV)

When Calls the Heart, on Netflix and the Hallmark Channel. It’s a bit like a modern-day Little House on the Prairie. A bit corny, but I couldn’t quit watching it. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’ve heard good things about 7th Heaven. I’ve never seen it but I know it was always described as family friendly. I’m currently watching the old 60’s show The Fugitive. I find that the shows from the 60’s were very well done. So many of them showcased good morals and character. Others include Bonanza, Rawhide, Combat, and Route 66 to name a few. They are all available on dvd. I just can’t watch the shows that are on today.

If you have kids, a show I have been watching with the little one is “Octonauts” on Netflix. It’s a kids show that explores the ocean and the marine wildlife. It doesn’t insult your intelligence like most kids shows. I recommend it.

I just thought of two more shows that you may be interested in that are more wholesome: The Waltons and Touched by an Angel.

I love suspense so would highly recommend the Agatha Christie collection. The old ones have no unnecessary scenes so can be watched by almost anyone. We do need more wholesome entertainment though. I started watching the new series “Hunters” but had to abandon it in the first episode.
