The year 2020 started with illnesses that took long to recover , and all kinds of mishap afterward but prayers kept me strong and optimistic.

Rosary prayers ( Virgin Mary) and Divine Mercy are my most favourite because they’ve helped me keep going without breaking down. Such powerful!!!

But lately, it’s kind of strange. I sleep peacefully but in the early morning hours, like 5 a.m. I see such bad dreams (I’ve gotten rid of nightmares) but these are like bad omens/warning kind of dreams such seeing all black sky and a ruined city ( I did the Divine Mercy prayers and read the Bible before sleeping in order to ward off bad dreams).

I’m so scared, it might be something dreadful going to occur in my life or that of my beloved ones.

Are there any prayers to “nullify” these dreams and their effects? Sometimes, a girl (I could feel her!) Is trying to fight with me and I wake up somewhat scared and mostly angry – angry because I begin to think ’ Haven’t had I enough?"

Okay, let me add something too. Beside the picture of Lord Jesus, is the idol of Krishna (Hindu God). I just pay my obeisance to the Hindu God as well ( I thought my spiritual journey would be strengthened).

Could it be because of this? I’m so scared and confused.

This is in direct conflict with your Catholic faith it can only weaken your Catholic faith. The idol of Krishna should be removed.

Please speak to your priest or a professional counselor about your dreams. Some people just have regular nightmares/night terrors for periods of their lives.

There lays your problem, the picture of the hindu god. Remove the picture from your home and go to confession. Arrange for a priest to bless your home. Pax Christi.

@TheHolyTrinity @Wesrock My uneducated logic (of faith and principles) thought what harm could possibly be there in keeping Hindu God’s idol nearby; what’s more-- I also thought it’d make me stronger (combined with Jesus). And I will also admit this that I began to chant Hindu mantras.

I did that because when I was a child, my mom used to follow Hinduism, she brought us many blessings through her prayers. This had a big impact on me too.

And then, after I pursued Christianity I had altogether stopped doing anything with Hinduism until last month the idea suddenly came up “let me pray to Krishna as well”. I should admit that the urge behind it was because I thought Lord Jesus isn’t responding to my prayers anymore, He’s tired of me. So, I must seek another path as well. How very sinful.

I confessed and asked Jesus that if I had committed any mistakes/sin by taking such actions, He MUST " tell" me. Are those bad dreams, maybe, a sign that I’ve caused our Lord a wrath beyond forgiveness? Or, a warning of something disastrous?

I confessed and asked Jesus that if I
A Catholic confession is attending a confessional with a priest present at your local Catholic Church. Prior to this you need to do a Examination of your Conscience.

An Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I have offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.

A substantial portion of the Old Testament is about God teaching his people to not have involvement with any other gods.

As Catholics, we must root ourself in the Nicene Creed,
which begins “I believe in one God.” Furthermore our “duty toward
God is to believe in him and to bear witness to him.”
(Catechism 2087)

Is there good in other religions? Of course there is. The Church
"considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as
a preparation for the Gospel. … " (Catechism 843)

We must not lose sight the fullness of truth. We as Catholics must
not bow down before idols of other religions. (Exodus 20:5)

Get rid of Krishna, go to confession, and focus on the Catholic faith.
Ask the Spirit lead you.

Prayer for the Help of the Holy Spirit

O God, send forth Your Holy Spirit into my heart that
I may perceive; into my mind, that I may remember;
and into my soul, that I may meditate. Inspire me to speak
with piety, holiness, tenderness, and mercy.

Teach, guide, and direct my thoughts and senses from
beginning to end. May Your grace ever help and correct
me. And may I be strengthened now with wisdom from
on high, for the sake of Your infinite mercy. Through
Christ Our Lord, Amen.

– St. Anthony of Padua

You are in my prayers.

Thank you so much @njlisa @TheHolyTrinity for the guidance.

Also, I was partly influenced by (Mahatma) Gandhi’s writing/opinion, upon which I stumbled while reading his biography. I forgot the exact name but in there he writes that despite him being a Hindu, he equally respects and “bows” down to Jesus as he would to any other Hindu Gods. His intention (I assume) - that all religions/faith are equal. He goes on to say Jesus (or God) doesn’t belong to one group or race of humans but all, bleh bleh.

So, my balloon like mind that keeps bouncing up and down, inflates and deflates, flies in the air and whatnot , ingested the writing and decided “okay, I shall turn to all (faith/Gods)” . I forgot that many times I’ve been saved by our Lord Jesus. I had sworn never to deviate from our Lord’s path, but there it is. I have, just because a prayer hasn’t been answered (while I know, all prayers aren’t answered, and that it takes patience to understand what God has in store for us).

I must say, our Heavenly Father must be punishing me even more (in addition to my current trials and tribulations).

God loves us. And suffering does not make us bad. Our Lord
suffered. We must unite our suffering with His. He wants you,
me, and everyone else in the fold. God won’t turn away from us.
But we can turn away from him.

A new spiritual discipline can re-inflate your balloon with Christian
thoughts.

I suggest downloading the Daily Office app from iBreviary.

I want to address your points in about Gandhi. As a Hindu, Gandhi
believed that god can take many avatars (forms). Jesus would be
one of those forms.

As champion of non-violent resistance, Gandhi inspired
Dr. Martin Luther King and other Christian civil rights leaders.

While we can learn from his example, Gandhi is not our
spiritual teacher.

@njlisa i downloaded it and it’s such a treasure!!! I was looking for prayer guidance and collections of them. Thank you so much!!!

As for Gandhi, you’re right. I think I just failed to seek the right source of spiritual learning and direction. I mixed up everything together.

I thank you once again, and do please keep me in your prayers. 🙏

What do you consume? News? Political ads and commentary (sadly more and more of the Catholic media is becoming partisan)?

Try a fast from all of the fear and negativity on social media, on TV, on the radio or magazines.

It’s a bit more understandable why you’ve been drawn to this since you say you grew up with a Hindu parent. To be a practicing Catholic, though, is to believe in one God and one God only as revealed by the Catholic Church. Other religions do not capture the full truth.

God bless you, I have been praying for you.

Always trust in God. He is not punishing you, just showing you in his merciful way where you’ve gone wrong, like a loving father. There are plenty of good catholic spiritual speakers to listen to who will help you follow your faith. An easy to understand basic is Fr Mike Schmitz on youtube. He explains things simply and is quite easy to understand here’s one on prayer

On the other hand, my Dad was more of a Buddhist follower – I say “more” because he was open to all except Hinduism. He denounced the later as a religion/faith of oppression.

So, there was kind of “clash” in our family (regarding faith and religion) although the parents never debated over it. Each pursued our own course and I was the one most “influenced” by their belief. My older brother, however , chose to stay free of any belief and trust relating to God. And I worry about him and Dad because I feel like they don’t have a spiritual protector ( I do pray to the Lord to watch over them).

Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: Carrying of the Cross (Hail Mary 7) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen. When I have a bad dream and wake up, I immediately picture Jesus walking on water and saying ‘Take heart, it is I, have no fear’.

I agree with others that you should talk to a priest! God has touched you with his truth and it seems to me that he might be calling you to delve deeper in the holy Catholic faith…i would not consider your dreams punishment…perhaps God is allowing this to slowly draw you closer to him. You might consider saying these prayers to drive any darkness away…A friend wished some bad things on me tonight (in anger) and I just said the prayers myself…

Give yourself wholly to Jesus and do away with the other stuff…I understand it’s hard to let go of the past but it seems that God is calling you to the fullness of truth, found completely and wholly in the Catholic Church…I assume you were not raised Catholic? I am a convert myself…Only Jesus is the way, the truth and the life… If you are physically well enough, I think going to a local Catholic Church and quietly sitting before the Blessed Sacrament would be life changing! Do you have access to the EWTN channel on cable? You’ll be in our prayers .🙂

I always used to say just “Jesus! Jesus!!” Or “Hail Mary…” and the evil attacking me in my dreams would release me. It was such an experience, but like I said, after associating myself with the roots of Hinduism, not night terrors (terrors are long gone) but one such as I’ve described above in my starting post ( bad omen dreams) began to trouble me.

This morning, I woke up without remembering any dreams. Most of the time (good or bad) I do recall them vividly. But I recited some prayers from the link you’ve provided (May God bless you) and went to bed assuring myself that God is with me. I felt a lot better because I was expecting some troublesome dreams again. I shall continue with what I have been advised here, thank you!!!

I shall do that and thank you so much for this (Breaking Curses prayers). Sometimes, i’ve “felt” that perhaps it’s some curses that lays heavily on me.

I want to see a priest but since I’m such a sickly thing I was thinking it’s not just right now that I can venture out and about freely (Covid fear). Nevertheless, I find solace in receiving all the suggestions and advice (as well as prayers in my name) from fellow Catholics here. I don’t think I could fare better anywhere else. 🙏
