For present or former Missouri Synod Lutherans:

Dr. Oswald Hoffmann, speaker on The Lutheran Hour for more than 30 years, died Sept. 8, 2005. He represented the LCMS at the Second Vatican Council. For his service to the U. S. military, he received the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Service in 1980

I worked with Dr. Hoffmann from 1971 to 1978 at The Lutheran Hour. He was one of the most caring, approachable people I have every known. His door was always open, and his jovial booming voice seemed to brighten the room. He hobnobbed with presidents, and treated the people he worked with as if he or she were president. Dr. Hoffmann will be missed for his outspoken proclamation of the Gospel, but more important, for the way he lived the life of a Christian—with faith in his Lord and love for his fellow man.

My prayers for him and his family

An AM radio station here in Cleveland plays the Lutheran Hour on early Sunday mornings. I do listen to it because I like to hear a different view. I do not believe I have heard Dr. Hoffman but do pray for eternal rest.
