This is an off-shoot from another thread on this forum “Book warning: A Bad Kitty Christmas” where a member calls to our attention another example of media being used to promote same-sex union propaganda.
In that thread I note that I would like to see a Catholic/Christian response to this propaganda in like form: for every 4 secular works of art used to promote that agenda, have at least 1 of the same media type demonstrating the Christian response to that agenda.
It called to mind the Highlights comic “Goofus and Gallant”
Showing my age, I loved going to the doctor’s or dentist’s office just to have the chance to run to the corner table for the current issue and would immediately flip toward the back to find this strip and the word games. I’m sure it has evolved since then.
That is the closest example of Christian propaganda I can come up with. Granted, my recollection is from a time when Christian values WERE American values. We are no longer in that setting, and I have no idea if G&G has used interacting with a person from a same-sex relationship in a strip to date.
I’m just suggesting now is a good time to start thinking about what an alternative children’s book to “A Bad Kitty Christmas” would look like and perhaps get the ball rolling on developing ways to guide us Catholics in the proper way to interact with people from same-sex relationships. How do we interact and engage without enabling, without accepting it as ‘normal’, and without withholding God’s love and compassion within that interaction?
