Google logo today: "450th Anniversary of St. Basil's Cathedral"

Have you gone to Google? Their logo today is a sketch of St. Basil’s with the title “450th Anniversary of St. Basil’s Cathedral” 🙂
 
Now, if only the Russian government would commemorate the event by returning St. Basil’s to the Orthodox Church (Eastern Catholic would even be better, but that’s TOO much to hope for 😃 )
 
That cathedral was never Eastern Catholic to begin with and the most we should hope for is that Rome and the East can become one again without one lording it over the other (which neither side will ever accept) and, having achieved that unity, the name “Eastern Catholic” will disappear as the EC churches return to their points of origin.

Pokrovskiy sobor/church of blessed Vasiliy

This temple, a unique example architecture, is called the Sobor of the Porkov of the Mother of God on Rvu. The separate church on first floor is dedicated to Vasiliy Blajhenniy/ But entire sobor is now somtimes called after Vasiliy. But better to call Pokrovskiy sobor. This special temple taken care of both by Russian Orthodox church and by Russian historical museum, also on Red Square. In front is famous statue of Minin and Pozharsky who gathered army to drive Polish from Moskow at time of troubles.
