Matt Fradd is one of many of the fine employees here at Catholic Answers.

Matt’s apologetics specialty if battling against pornography.

I was actually quite surprised he got as far as he did with an organization such as Google (on any level).

GOOGLE SHUTS DOWN ANTI-PORN PRESENTATION BY CATHOLIC

NEWS: US NEWS

Matt Fradd banned from Google campus because of opposition to gay lifestyles

SAN FRANCISCO (ChurchMilitant.com) - Catholic apologist Matt Fradd is calling Google’s recent cancellation of a talk he was scheduled to deliver an effective ban because of his outspoken adherence to Catholic beliefs.

A self-described Roman Catholic apologist with more than 17,000 YouTube subscribers, Fradd told his viewers he waived his speaking fee to talk to a group of Google employees on the topic of the harmful effects of pornography.

According to an explanatory video, the group within Google sought permission from their employers before paying Fradd’s plane fare from Atlanta to San Franciso.

At no point does Fradd say Google or its parent company, Alphabet, hired him for the talk. . . .

. . . I was informed that I was not in any way, shape or form to address the transgenderism question or the same-sex attraction question." . . .

. . . Upon questioning Google why his talk was canceled, Fradd was told it was because of comments on his Twitter page that aligned with official Catholic teaching on homosexuality.

In his video, Fradd explains that the topic he was hired to address had nothing to do with his opinions on homosexuality; further, more than 100 million U.S. citizens polled revealed that they also believed homosexual acts are immoral… . .

Here is Fradd discussing this.

(See it while you still can if interested.
I would not be surprised if Google divines up a reason for some sort of violation with removal of Fradd’s video.)

Unfortunately this isn’t surprising and I suspect we will see more and more of this.

This shows that Matt Fradd was really making a difference (and still is). Good for him!

It is unfortunate that Google would do this, though. How far will they go?

From Senator Cruz . . . .

Sen. Cruz Grills Google on Allegations of Politically Biased Censorship

Senator Cruz Grills Google Executive Over Insider Story

On June 25 2019, during a US Senate Committee hearing, Texas Senator Ted Cruz questioned Ms. Maggie Stanphill, Director of Google User Experience over the findings of Project Veritas’ recent investigative report featuring insider testimony, undercover video of a Google executive, and leaked internal documents. Said Senator Cruz:
And from project Veritas . . .

Below is a partial transcript of the exchange between Senator Cruz and Ms. Stanphill.
CRUZ: Are you familiar with the report that was released yesterday from Veritas, that included a whistleblower from within Google that included videos from a senior executive at Google, and it included documents that are reportedly internal powerpoint documents from google.

GOOGLE: Yes I heard about that report in news.

CRUZ: Have you seen the report?

GOOGLE: No I did not.

CRUZ: So you didn’t review the report to prepare fr this meeting?

GOOGLE: It’s been a busy day and I have a day job which is Digital Well-being at Google so I’m trying to make sure…

CRUZ: Well I’m sorry that this meeting is impinging on your day job.

GOOGLE: It’s a great opportunity thank you.

CRUZ: One of the things in that report and I would recommend people interested in political bias at Google watch the entire report and judge for themselves, there’s a video from a woman Jen Gennai, it’s a secret video that was recorded, Jen Gennai as I understand is the head of responsible innovation for google. Are you familiar with Miss Gennai?

GOOGLE: I work in user experience and I believe that AI group is somebody is somebody that works on AI principles. But it’s a big company and I don’t work directly with Jen.

2/2 . . .
CRUZ: Do you know her or no?

GOOGLE: I do not know Jen.

CRUZ: As I understand that she is shown in the video saying, and this is a quote, “Elizabeth warren (sic) is saying that we should break up google. And like I love her, but she is very misguided. Like that will not make it better. It will make it worse. Because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do, will be charged with preventing the next trump situation. It’s like a small company cannot do that.” Do you think its Google’s job to quote, “prevent the next trump situation?”

GOOGLE: Thank you senator. I don’t agree with that. . .

CRUZ: So a different individual, a whistleblower identified simply as an insider at Google with knowledge of the algorithm, was quoted on the same report as saying, google is quote “bent on never letting someone like Donald Trump come to power again.” You think its google’s job to make sure quote “somebody like Donald Trump never comes to power again?”

GOOGLE: No sir I don’t think that is Google’s job . . .

CRUZ: Let’s talk about one of the PowerPoints that was leaked. The Veritas report has Google internally saying “I propose we make machine learning intentionally human centered and intervene for fairness.” Is this document accurate?

GOOGLE: Thank you sir, I don’t know about this document so I don’t know.

CRUZ: Okay I’m going to ask you to respond to the committee in writing afterwards as to whether this PowerPoint and the other documents are included . . . Do you agree with the sentiment expressed in this document?

GOOGLE: No sir I do not.

CRUZ: Going to read you another, also in this report, it indicates that Google according this whistleblower, deliberately makes recommendations if someone is searching for conservative commentators, deliberately shifts the recommendations so instead of recommending other conservative commentators it recommends organizations like CNN or MSNBC or left leaning political outlets. Is that occurring?

GOOGLE: Thank you sir, I can’t comment I can’t comment on search algorithms . . .

CRUZ: So is it part of Digital Well-being for search recommendations to reflect the where user wants to go than deliberately shifting where they want to go?

GOOGLE: As a user experience professional, we focus on delivering on user goals. So we try to get out of the way and on the task at hand.

CRUZ: So a final question, one of these documents that was leaked explains what Google is doing and it has a series of stamps, training data, collected and classified, algorithms are programmed, media are filtered ranked and aggregated, and that ends with, people, parenthesis, like us, are programmed. Does Google view its job as programming people with search results? . . .

CRUZ: Well I think these questions, these documents raise very serious questions about political bias.

I am very confident that Google has more paying advertising customers in the porn business than for those who criticize porn. If you think about it porn has long been the driving force, or at least an early adopter, of most recent technology including cable television, DVD’s, and the internet.

Take my word for this. Do not enter the term “adult videos” into Google and try to count the hits. You will die of old age before you can complete the count.

So the trade off for redefining marriage to include people of the same sex is that we now can exclude people from their jobs and from communicating if they don’t agree.

Progress?

I cannot wait until Google gets broken up by anti-trust regs. Can’t come soon enough.

Well, I guess that adds some clarity. I was looking forward to attending, but the email announcing that it was moving off site came the morning of the event. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t feasible for me to attend after it got moved off campus. 😦

On the positive side, I did decide buy the book as a result.

I guess Google has become our government along with Twitter and Facebook and others. We let them rule us, take our privacy away and have all the information they need to brainwash us and who knows what else. Amazon is also shaking hands with all these companies. You try to use a kindle and all you get are adds promoting trashy novels and others things. But until Christians and any person with decent morals unite to start a search engine that follows the ten commandments we will live and munch on maggots of relativism and immorality. Praying for men and women who have ethics and ability to build a popular, decent search engine.

Hardly. Most people can’t choose their government, and you’re forced to follow them whether you want to or not, at most only being able to voice dissent and vote in the hopes of enacting change. Not even the most powerful of these companies, have that much power. Granted, they do have more power than the average citizen to affect change, but that’s only because they have the money to exploit problems in our government. Even then, though, these major companies don’t always see eye-to-eye and may act against each other, as we saw recently with the bickering between Benioff (Salesforce) and Dorsey (Twitter).
all the information they need to brainwash us and who knows what else
Interestingly, there is a problem with at least YouTube (less sure about Facebook) with aiding indoctrination to more extreme views. However, this is less malice on YouTube’s part and more an oversight with their algorithm, which is unfortunate but understandable given that YouTube is effectively the sole platform facing these challenges. However, this can also lead to a rise in fringe conservativism, which doesn’t necessarily fit the “deliberate leftist brainwashing” narrative.
But until Christians and any person with decent morals unite to start a search engine that follows the ten commandments we will live and munch on maggots of relativism and immorality.
I’m not sure the extent to which you’re proposing this, but I think a search engine’s primary purpose is to be a good vehicle for research, which will naturally lead you to content that you disagree with unless you stick to things like cat pictures. (And even then, you might get into the debate about munchkin cats or whether cats or dogs are better.)

With that said, I did see if I could find a Christian search engine, but all of the ones I found run on HTTP, and given the sometimes sensitive nature of what is being searched for, I don’t feel like giving them visibility if they have that little concern for your security and privacy. (And before anyone tries pointing out an irony, at least with Google, you know where the data is going, and Google has well-defined and very strict rules around security and privacy. HTTP opens that data up to legitimately malicious actors.)

Thanks. That was well worth reading. I actually learned something. Now about those little, cute kittens😻 … and let us not forget those chickens.
