GOP heavyweights pressure lawmakers to ditch Planned Parenthood de-funding
Pro-life leaders last week said they feared that a stopgap budget bill approved by the GOP, but lacking the cuts, was a foreshadowing of priorities for the final product. When faced with the question by CNS News last week, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor shied away from calling the Planned Parenthood cut “non-negotiable.” A press secretary told the news service upon pressing the issue that “we now need to see where the Senate stands on this and other big issues.”

Is the Republican Party satisfied with a symbolic vote calling for defunding of Planned Parenthood, or are they willing to follow the lead of the grassroots pro-Life movement? If they aren’t willing to defund Planned Parenthood, then are they really committed to the pro-Life cause? Our Bishops instructed Catholics to vote pro-Life. Are Republicans just using this issue to win Catholic votes at election time? Defunding PP needs to be a non-negotiable issue for Republicans. Nancy Pelosi was absolutely uncompromising when it came to supporting PP and John Boehner needs to be equally uncompromising when it comes to defunding PP.
