Gospel reading and homily in the Altar

Is it okay if the Reading of gospel i read and the homily is given in the table where the Consecration will be done? the main table or the altar? eventhough there is an available place (podium, dont know the term for that) for that?

Can you make a comment based on the rules on the liturgy
