Out here in the middle of nowhere we actually have a cowboy church. No kidding, I had to ask what a Cowboy church was. They told me it was a casual dress church…???
Do they wear boots and hats to service? What denomination is it?Out here in the middle of nowhere we actually have a cowboy church. No kidding, I had to ask what a Cowboy church was. They told me it was a casual dress church…???
It’s nothing that I ever heard of either. There aren’t too many cowboys around Cleveland. Not sure what the denom is…I really think it is a non denominational “christian” church… I dunno… being a cradle Catholic from the East coast didn’t prepare me for a midwest cowboy religion.
In the West (as in Arizona), where we still have *real *cowboys, they’re mostly Catholic (because Mexican) or else fairly old-fashioned evangelical.I dunno… being a cradle Catholic from the East coast didn’t prepare me for a midwest cowboy religion.
That’s right!!! Any state that is more than 3 hours from the Atlantic Ocean…But hey, back East, the West begins at Ohio, right?
Cowboy church? Hhmmmm…is that where you gotta hoof it along a trail to git to Sunday mornin’ services an’ all you hear is a buncha bull and people with beefs and jangly spurs and chaps and stuff??quote=BlestOne;1809768]Out here in the middle of nowhere we actually have a cowboy church. Even in the small (in comparison) rural city that I live in, we have a Mega Church like this. There is one of these types in my area I got a flyer for one that said if you don’t want to attend service you can sit in their cafe and order a latte and watch the service on the big screen!![]()
Yeah these Prosperity Gospel types like to turn church into a sort of Cafe Smorgesboard. And God’s paying for all of it with a blank check… all you have to do is “accept Jesus!”.Even in the small (in comparison) rural city that I live in, we have a Mega Church like this.
Cafe…they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sundays. During the week, they serve dinner for weekly services. Fancy cafe, with wrought iron tables, glass tops, big screen TV. Over beside their Library, they have a crying room which is sofas, chairs, etc in living room fashion, all around a large screen TV. I mean, I could go on and on about this church. I had a jaw dropping experience when I went for a visit (my friend was baptized). I felt like I was at the Mall.
Wow! That is more over the top than the one in our town! I have never been there but a friend has now she is trying to get me to go and I am trying to get her back to Mass!Even in the small (in comparison) rural city that I live in, we have a Mega Church like this.

In the Akron, OH area there is a buffet restaurant called the Cathedral Buffet. It is owned by a famous Protestant minister (I forgot who). It’s been open for many years. I remember going there for dinner with my parents probably 30 years ago when I was a little kid. It’s just a restaurant, though, there’s no service in the dining room.Even in the small (in comparison) rural city that I live in, we have a Mega Church like this.

The Holy Spirit goes where He will. There is one of those churches near my house. They wear thier short shorts and harley t-shirts. Some even come in flip-flops.
