Hi there! Since I’m on this site, I figured I’d let people know I’m here, and offer to answer and questions about my faith. I’d be happy to clarify anything you’re curious or confused about. I know that it’s hard to find information about the Pagan faith, since it can be a bit confusing and complex to the casual browser! 😛

(Disclaimer: I may not be able to help with questions about the Wiccan faith, as I am not Wiccan, but I’ll try anyway!)

So again, thank you for having me, and I hope to see you around the forum!

Sincerely,
Sage

What pagan sect do you follow?
I am a Hedgewitch, meaning that I most prominently work with herbs and other aspects of nature. 🙂 Some Hedgewitches have been known to use hallucinogens in their works, but I prefer not to do that sort of thing. I like being in my right mind. 😉

However, “sect” may be a misleading term, as I am a Solitary. This means that I prefer to do my work alone, rather than in a Coven. I don’t really care for Covens. You may be suprised to know that quite a few Pagans are Solitaries! 🙂

🤷 I have never heard of this religion
I get that a lot, actually. 😉

Pagan faiths base their beliefs on the concept that Nature is holy, and should be treated as such. That is the core belief of all Pagan paths. From there, the countless paths differ on many things. For instance, some Pagans are Witches, but not all Witches are Pagans. Some Pagans believe in something similar to Karma, while others do not. Some Pagans have a god they worship. Some have several. And some have none at all! This is what I meant by how confusing it can be. 😛

And meanwhile, there’s Wicca, which was created my a man named Gerald Gardner in the 50’s (if I remember correctly), which is considered by many Pagans to not even be a Pagan religion, since its core fundamentals differ so greatly from what the others believe. By this I mean that while Wicca is a self-empowering religion, Paganism is focused on the world around him or her.

Hi LittleSage!

It is my impression that you are honest with whatever faith you have. My questions are:
  1. What is your understanding of the Catholic faith?
  2. Are their Catholic teachings which are in conformity with your doctrines or way of living?

I actually don’t know very much at all about the Catholic faith, which is one of the reasons I’m here: so I can fix that!

As for your other question, the one thing I know of that we do have in common is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The Pagan faith condemns doing anything with ill intent, be it for yourself or another.

Could you tell me some more about the Catholic faith? That way I could read it and say “this one, that one” as to what we agree on. 🙂

the Catachism may take a month or two to read through 🙂

I have a question, do you think abortion is right? if so, why?

That is actually a personal question, since the Pagan faith doesn’t really have a stance on that either way. Personally, I am for the right to choose, but at the same time I am against the idea of abortion (unless the mother’s life is at stake), and always recommend to anyone I hear saying they’re going to get one that they should consider putting the child up for adoption instead. After all, my dad was adopted, and if his mom (who was 15 at the time) had had an abortion, I wouldn’t be here!

Good morning Little Sage…

My question to you is what religion (if any) were you before you started practicing the “Pagan faith”?

Thank you and best regards,
Pam

I was actually raised nondenominational Christian, everyone, and I mean everyone, is a Christian in my family. I’m the black sheep. 😛 From a very early age, Christianity never really made any sense to me, and eventually I was introduced to the concept of Nature-based religion, and it totally synced with me! It made much more sense to me, and it just felt… right. To those of you who weren’t born into your faith, do you know that feeling I’m talking about?

Sage out of curiosity are you here to just educate about paganism or are you seeking to understand or should I say re-understand the Christian Faith?

Welcome and PEACE to you 🙂

Well, both? Haha… I figured as long as I was here I’d post this thread out of courtest, but the main reason I’m here is to learn more about Catholicism/Christianity and make friends. 🙂

Which do you like more as a title: Pagan, Gentile, or Neo?

I’d like to add that #3 comes with the benefit of not having to dodge bullets 😃

Haha… 😃

Well, first off, let me say that I’ve never really considered the term Gentile, though I do see it’s applications. Neo I tend to stay away from, since in my mind that term refers to the Wiccan faith, which was created very recently, hence the name, and also greatly differs from the fundamentals I practice. I personally prefer Pagan, as it refers to the peoples of pre-Christian Europe that practiced the old ways, and who are my kin and ancestors. Bear in mind I have no illusions that my practices are exactly the same as theirs were, because that would be impossible, since so much of their history and culture has been lost, but I do try to keep to the spirit (pardon the pun) of their ways.

Next? I’m enjoying this thread. 🙂

If you had a telephone booth that could take you to any time, would you go back to pre-Christian time and join your ancestors?

Hahaha… Good question! 😛 Maybe, but I would miss my husband very much. 😃 And tacos. I’d miss those too.

Chicken tacos for the win 👍

Another question: Do you celebrate Halloween?
