Having a Friendsgiving.

Bringing roasted garlic mashed potatoes and a chocolate pecan pie as my contribution.

Only thing different is that my DH and I will be alone for the first time in 30 something years of marriage.
All the family(s) are pulling out of virus infections and on the mends. Tomorrow is a day of rest and quarantine.
Another minimalist here with turkey breast, sage sausage vegetable stuffing, mashed and sweet potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie, apple pie, wine & water.

In a different State this year but looking forward to dinner with friends.

I usually make a large feast at my house, but this year I am going to my sister-in-laws where Iā€™ll be lucky if there is stuffing to go with the turkey ā€¦ LOL ā€¦ sorry to say she just canā€™t cook.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I truly give thanks for the friendship and fellowship, and prayers offered on this site. I wish everyone a wonderful day. šŸ™‚

My 4 year-oldā€™s turkey-cooking advice to her granddaddy: Donā€™t forget to remove its soul. šŸ˜Æ

Iā€™ve given up on my Eagles too. Even if they make the playoffs, which is unlikely, theyā€™ll get crushed in the first round.

I bought a pecan pie. Weā€™re eating light. No turkey because Iā€™m a pescatarian and my wife is a vegetarian. Just snack food, really.

Iā€™m a vegetarian, but the only one in my immediate family. Pecan anything sounds good to me!

Somebody is bringing roast crab to the Friendsgiving Iā€™m attending.

Iā€™ll sure be eating that.

Of all the American holidays, this is the one I really miss. Thereā€™s no way Iā€™ll skip it, even from all the way over here!

Doing it all myself, but for two people itā€™s not overwhelming. Didnā€™t even make anything until today.

Weā€™re going standard: boneless turkey roast (turkey leg quarter, deboned and rolled, not stuffed), stuffing baked in the same pan as the roast, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie. No cranberries to be had here and I forgot to order a can of cranberry sauce so Iā€™m using lingonberry jam from IKEA. Itā€™s remarkably similar.

In the past I have done less traditional meals, including a Native American menu that got rave reviews, but some of the ingredients for a ā€œnormalā€ Thanksgiving dinner are already hard enough to find in France. Whole turkey doesnā€™t become widely available until close to Christmas and breast roasts are non-existentā€”dark meat is far more popular, which is okay because we both like it. I really donā€™t need to complicate the task by chasing down things like buffalo meat or hominy šŸ˜€

The French Husband has very little concept of Thanksgiving, but heā€™s not going to turn down a meal like this. šŸ— šŸ„§ Since he wonā€™t be home from work until around 9pm, so weā€™ll be digging in just before the Bills and the Cowboys take to the field. šŸˆ

Happy Thanksgiving to all! ā¤ļø

Turkey in oven. Green bean casserole is prepared. (Hintā€¦ well drained, I mean well drained bacon takes it up a notch.)

Working on other sides. Dough for the fresh rolls in process.

Cooking is so much fun.

Oh yeah, forgot about the bread. Weā€™re having a baguette. šŸ„– Nothing I could come up with would even come close to rivalling the fruits of a French bakerā€™s labor. Right tool for the job. šŸ˜
