Old Captain America has always been a big fan of democracy.

HAVE you noticed?

-----the Current Occupant Mr. Obama has issued HUNDREDS of executive orders. His predecessors usually issued only a handful.

----the president has arrogated to himself the drone-kill power.

----also, this office has spied on innocent American citizens like you.

—AND, the current Department of Justice decides for itself which valid and lawfully passed laws it wishes to enforce. This obviates the work of our representatives. (Now, you may agree that some of these laws are wrong, etc., but the proper democratic channel of change is the legislative forum. . . not a Monday morning bureaucratic decision made by a handful of people).

–this trend of “pick which laws you don’t want to enforce” has spread to the states.

Friends, I would have thought that liberals would howl, howl, howl over this anti-democratic and arrogant power-snatch.

They shut up, the media, too, since we live in a 24/7 partisan world. . . and “their side” is making gains with this.

Nice. So much for democracy in America.

I don’t know why this myth is so pervasive. If anything, Obama has actually deferred quite a bit more to congress than one might expect from a “modern” President. In fact, according to this source, he has issued less executive orders than many (if not most) recent Presidents.

Less than George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Lyndon B. Johnson and others.

True of the last 2 Presidents, I believe. Highly concerning stuff!

Believe this has always been the case as it pertains to the executive branch. It’s an unlisted check of sorts. Concerning, maybe, maybe not… which laws are you talking about specifically?

Actually, there is quite a bit of howling, unless, of course, you are under the illusion that our corporate-owned, corporate-sponsored “MSM” is liberal, or that the corporate-owned, corporate-sponsored modern Democratic Party is “hard left.”

You haven’t heard a real left-wing opinion in the media for years.

Try Think Progress, Common Dreams, Mother Jones, Socialist Worker, just to name a few, to see where the real left is.

And seriously, ask yourself this: Obama got significant backing for both his campaigns from Wall Street because he is

a) a socialist

b) a corporate toady… and definitely not a socialist.

Really, Wall Street and Corporate America (those bastions of Communism) are doing just fine lately. The rest of us, well, maybe not so much. Hmmmm…
