Graces?

Anybody want to help me understand something ? Again? :o
I keep reading about receiving graces? I think that is the termed used anyway. It sounds like keeping a tally of all the good things I do to counter any bad.
Sorry I am not describing this well at all.
Does anyone have any idea what I am referring to? I think it is given in confession?

Thanks, I dont have a CCC at this time. Is there something written about it elsewhere?
