It is hard to talk about morals when it comes to this. When I lecture, I have guidelines for my class and give my students every opportunity to pass. When the end of the semester comes, I have to draw a distinct line between passing and failing a course. Usually my grading is done objectively and I consider all aspects of the students’ abilities, progress and work, but one point is one point. There has to be a clear line between passing and failing. In my eyes, a student should know where they stand before the conclusion of a course and if they think they are going to fail should be putting the extra effort or seeking my assistance. However, that is just my opinion as a lecturer.
