Hello all,

I recently requested prayers for my grandfather, who has been diagnosed with cancer throughout his body. First, thanks to all who contributed.

In the Providence of God, it happens that the feast of St. Peregrine, patron of cancer patients, falls tomorrow, May 1st - though the Church does not celebrate it Liturgically.

I decided it would be great to say a Novena for my grandfather beginning on this day. I’ve sent this to a tremendous number of people, and hopefully many will participate. It’s only a short 2 minute prayer. I’m going to post it here, and I hope that as many of you as possible will join us in it. Our God is a God of miracles, and when one only believes that it becomes meaningful.

Even if it’s not God’s intention to heal him, the spiritual benefit from so many people joining in prayer will be tremendous - and that may be what he needs most.

So here is the prayer. I hope you’ll join us. God bless and thanks!
O Lord, You have said that if two on earth agree about anything that they wish to ask of You, it will be done for them by Your Father in Heaven. Today, we join together in humble petition, seeking with one accord the healing of Michael Hanafin of the cancer which has infected his body. You gave us our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and yet they are desecrated by both sin and disease daily. Through the prayers of your faithful servant Peregrine, free Michael from both of these cancers, that he may live here on earth with his family and eternally with You in Heaven.

Oh great Saint Peregrine, you who have been called “The Mighty” and “The Wonder-Worker” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of these sick persons whom we entrust to you.

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I am late coming to this thread, but know that I have already prayed the Novena with you and will continue to do so! It is a beautiful prayer! My prayers, also, are that your grandfather will receive healing, if not in his body, then in his mind and spirit and that he will feel the Lord’s comfort and be at peace with whatever the future may hold!

Lazerlike42, please know that the Lord will be there for you, also, in a very special way! He see’s your care and concern, and most of all love, and will give you His comfort and peace, also!
