Grandparents are over so parents probably won't let me go to mass

I would not be so quick to say that, particularly since the parents might (wrongly, but still quite adamantly) deem that the obligation to stay at home when one has visitors supersedes all other obligations. If you haven’t known any Catholic parents whose decisions haven’t made you scratch your head in disbelief, at any rate, you are keeping good company.
