Anyways, the best to you and everyone else that responded. My apologies if I responded to criticisms unchristian like. Even if I felt I was wronged, I was also wrong in responding the way I did. Please forgive me as I have already forgiven for any hurt feelings caused to me.
Since apologies are being offered, allow me to offer you mine as well. I am sorry you felt that you were wronged, but I have been a member on these forums for several years now and can assure you that no one had that intent. God bless.

Thanks. Maybe I should hold off ‘receiving’ communion over this until I can get to confession. Man, it’s going to be a long week. :banghead:

I’m usually a hard nose. In this case IMPO based on what you posted. Go to daily Mass if you have the opportunity and let your conscience be your guide.

I agree with Tietjen and meant no offense at all. Like I said…good luck and God Bless…🙂

Blyss, I did not aim to go back to sleep. My wife asked to go to a later Mass so she could get some sleep as we were out late yesterday taking care of family business out of town. I started watching Fr John Corapi that my DVR had recorded last night. I did not mean to, but I then fell asleep myself so I had not reset the alarm clock.
In that case, you were lacking intention to sin.
I did not realize I needed to go into such detail to find out if inadvertently missing Mass was a grave or venial sin. I thought my original question was too long to begin with.
I think that is why CAF encourages people not to confess their sins on here!

A good learning experience for all of us. Next time you have a question like this, you can search the catechism yourself, and you may not feel a need to post.

scborromeo.org/index2.htm

However, if you don’t find what you are looking for, or are not sure which words to search, you can post your question in a more impersonal way, like “what conditions must be met in order for a sin to be grave” or “under which conditions is not attending mass excused?” That way, it does not have to be about you.

In retrospect, I should have given you this:

1857 For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: “Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.”

Blessings

It’s lent and going to confession is always a good way of practicing the catholic faith. Say hello to the first priest you see and ask him to hear your confession. I am sure it is on your concious or you would not be discussing it.

what does your concious say about missing mass?

but all should remember one should not judge or they will be judged.

I do not want to be judged and when the time comes for me to go before our Lord it is mercy I hope for not justice. If it was justice I know where my place will be.

Christ paid my fines and did my time. What he asks for is my Love, faith in him, and my feeble attempts not to sin again.

The question having been anwered, the thread has concluded. Thanks to those who provided information pertinent to the inquiry.
