Come into what???
[/quote]

Some priests in SSPX have become “regularized” through their Ordinary. They usually join a religious order directly connected to the Church, such as FSSP, and offer the EF in parishes that are part of a diocese.

ummmmmm. Let’s just say I go to the TLM out of love and with anticipation, and to the OF out of obedience and with dread.
Well I said in my post that you partially quoted that by “deficient” I mean invalid and that while some who attend TLM may believe it offers a better “setting” for the valid Mass, they still believe the OF is valid.

A number of individuals who were in SSPX perceived the need to be “regularized”, and took action to do that. It was not just a formality, but a significant change in their relationship to the local Church.

There’s one of those near me. The priests and brothers all seem fairly liberal for Catholic religious and their singing is nothing to write home about. That said I believe most of them are trying their best.

I don’t know anyone who goes to TLM who says OF is deficient. Everyone I know who attends EF says OF is equally valid as EF. The metaphor I’ve read is that both EF and OF are like a perfect diamond, both equally valid. However, the setting of a diamond can affect how much that diamond sparkles. I believe EF setting provides more sparkle to the valid Mass than the OF, but others can disagree.
The SSPX says the OF is ‘evil’.

Do they encourage active participation?
Exactly how would one encourage “active participation” at a Low Mass?

The first SSPX TLM I ever attended was on All Saints Day 1997. My friend & I were invited to come by a gentleman who attended the SSPX chapel near Philadelphia. It was a Low Mass. We sat in the first pew on the right hand side facing the altar (yes, it faces East). I probably looked like an idiot because I leaned forward as much as I could so I could hear the priest! The only time I figured out where we were in the Mass was when 1) he read the Gospel, 2) turned to the people to say “Dominus vobiscum”, 3) at the consecration and 4) at the Our Father. Then after Mass were the Leonine prayers for the conversion of Russia.

All these years later, I think the Solemn High Mass is closest to the Divine Liturgy but also appreciate Low Mass.

St. Athanasius
He was actually “excommunicated” by Pope Liberius (who was the first pope not to be immediately canonized upon his death). Was he? Of course not. He defended the Divinity of Christ his entire life.

I have this:

It’s a great read - short and easy to understand. Plus, it’s by the late, great Michael Davies (RIP).
