I have been searching the internet for a succinct explanation of the apostasy at the end of time but cannot find one. Does anyone know what the Church has to say on this topic or where I can find an article on it.

Thanks,
Annie

As with almost all things regarding eschatology, the Church has absolutely nothing whatsoever to say about it.

There are a few Catholic theologians who have written books on the subject. Whatever is contained therein is their personal opinion (though it may be a very well-formed opinion).

I think that there is a bible verse regarding the falling away or apostasy but I can’t find it. If you or anyone else knows what that verse is it would save me some time. What are the names of the people who have written on this subject?

Thanks again,
Annie

Beginning Apologetics 8: What Catholics Believe about the Second Coming, the Rapture, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Indulgences
http://shop.catholic.com/images/P/B0657.gif Section 282 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church assures us that knowing what happens at the end of human history is “decisive for the meaning and orientation of our life and actions.” Our view of the end times determines our view of salvation history. Knowing what happens at the end of our lives and at the end of human history is of supreme importance for understanding why God made us and what He has planned for us both in this life and in the next.

Unfortunately, many non-Catholic groups today are promoting serious errors about the last things. Sadly, many Catholics are vulnerable in this area because they don’t know the Church’s teaching about the end times.

In Beginning Apologetics 8: What Catholics Believe about the Second Coming, the Rapture, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Indulgences Jim Burnham and Father Frank Chacon give the basic teachings of the Catholic Church on the end times, and deal with some of the more common errors in this area. A correct understanding of the last things helps us live this life with great peace and hope. It also gives us a deeper appreciation of how much God loves us and how great a gift we have in being made in His image.

I am curious. Did you find the Gospel of St. Luke Chapter 18, verse 8, which after the story of the woman who faithfully pesters the unjust judge until she gets a hearing, Our Lord says, --" Yet when the Son of Man comes, will he find, do you think, faith on the earth?" It seems almost whimsical but considering the Source, sounds prophetic. ~Bill

Yes that was one of the bible verses that I found. I found the rebellion in Thess 2:3. But I don’t think the Church is clear on what this rebellion is but it can be an apostasy. I’m building a short bible study that I will need in defending the Church against attacks from people in my life.

Thanks for asking,
Annie
