I’m curious to get people’s opinions on some good podcasts for learning more about the faith.

Currently I’m subscribed to Fr. Mike Schmitz’s UMD Newman Catholic Campus Ministry podcast (if you’ve never heard him speak, do yourself a favor and check it out!), Word on Fire, The SaintCast, Catholic Stuff You Should Know, Divine Office - Liturgy of the Hours, and Cradio - Our Queen.

Are there any others people recommend for prayer and study?

I just listened to a cd talk by Fr. Schmitz called Jesus is…my parish roatates different cd talks and this is the first I have seen from him. Very good.

I recommend One True Faith podcasts from Michael Voris. Season Four about the Eucharist is especially good.

“Jesus is…” is awesome! Remind me, was that the one about Baptism or was it just about proving Jesus is God? I picked up two of them from one of the Lighthouse media racks at a Church I visited last summer (after having actually met Fr. Mike!) and I can’t remember which is which! lol

Proving Jesus is God. Subjective truth vs. Objective truth. Thank you for his podcast link…I just downloaded his Ash Wednesday podcast.

Well there is Catholic Answers Live…

But with UMD, Catholic Stuff, The saintcast you probably have the best ones I have ever heard of!

I listen to CA Live sometimes, but I really prefer the others. CA has too many interviews with book authors. I like those (one of my friends has even been interviewed for one episode!) but I want something that helps me understand and go deeper into my faith more than something that helps me defend it.

Discerning Hearts has a variety of podcasts that you may be interested in…

Also Radio Maria has their programs available for download…

I live in the south where Catholics are in the minority so I do appreciate the Catholic shows that help teach us to defend the Faith. Thankfully there is a wide variety available for Catholics. Remember to support them!

Anyone know of one that discusses biblical prophecy, eschatology and fringy sort of topics (Giants/Nephilim, spiritual warfare, conspiracy theory, ufo’s, etc) from a catholic perspective. Lots pf protestant shows on these sort of topics but have not found any catholic perspectives on this sort of material.

Not sure if they go so far as to deal with UFO’s, but there is a ton of old podcasts in EWTN’s audio library on many different aspects of Catholicism:

You can search the entire library here:
ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/intro.asp

There are so many, and I have only listened to a few, but if you want recommendations to get you started:

Adventures in Exodus - with Tim Gray
ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/seriessearchprog.asp?seriesID=7131

A Eucharistic Journey with Sr. Joan Noreen
(This is the first of three separate series; there is also Eucharistic Journey II and III)
ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/seriessearchprog.asp?seriesID=6617

Living the Scriptures with Mother Angelica
(These are nice because they are only 30 minutes, those above are an hour)
ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/seriessearchprog.asp?seriesID=843486108

Good luck! I too love a good Catholic podcast.

I was just looking for another one. I’ve listened to The Catholic Guy too. Good podcast! Thanks for posting!

👍 I second those recommendations. I downloaded the discerning hearts apps and use it during my Eucharistic Adoration hours.

Alas, the UMD podcast is only available on iTunes and I don’t have that on my Android. I do make a point to listen to his homilies via computer, though. He’s excellent. Have to listen about three times because he has so much energy and speaks so fast, there are many gems contained in his talks, they kinda whiz by.

You should try following when he’s there in person! He was a visiting priest once last summer, and I couldn’t tell you anything he said it went by so fast.
