I’d like suggestions about some good reading material during Lent related to the Eastern Tradition of Lent. This will be my first Great Fast as an actual member of the UGCC and not just a Latin sneaking in. 😃

For starters…is this a good book?
Great Lent: Journey to Pascha by Father Alexander Schmemann

I really enjoyed Great Lent: Journey to Pascha. The chapters are short, so even with a busy schedule, getting through the book is manageable. Though short, the chapters provide a lot of information and give the reader just enough to ponder whatever is the focus of the chapter. At, least that’s how I felt. I also loved the incorporation of prayers, biblical excerpts and parts of the texts of the lenten services throughout the book. Just my opinion, but I’d highly recommend it :).

I’m thinking of reading The Ladder of Divine Ascent this Lent. We’ll see how that goes.

Looking forward to seeing the suggestions!
