Let me guess, EWTN is part of a conspiracy against Mr. Martin. The man was laicized. Perhaps he was allowed to say Mass privately, but he he dispensed from his vows as a priest and as a Jesuit.

What, pray tell, is ministry but getting the word out about the greatness of the Church despite its inherent problems due to the men and internal enemies of the Church?

Should we just plug our ears, say “la la la”, and pretend it’s all good?

No!

I’d be a Catholic even if every single person to the left, right, front, and rear of me in Mass was a murdering, child-molesting, POS.

The Church is perfect, the men are not. But as for Fr. Martin, he was a sinner like all though he was never, ever laicized, and he is most definitely a priest- still!

Incorrect.
I assisted at several of Fr Martins Mass’s in Manhattan in the early '90’s.
Fr Martin showed me his celebret issued by Cardinal John O’Connor, Archbishop of New York allowing him to pursue his active ministry in NY.

It is a gross lie to say he was laicized.
Fr Martin never was.

I read it in the above quote from EWTN, that PacoG indicated:

So, you are saying that EWTN is actually making this quote up? The quote given is referenced from the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life from 25 June 1997, Prot. N. 04300/65, and only related through EWTN’s statement.

Obviously this there is some conflicting information out there.

I doubt that EWTN is knowingly lying, as they are known internationally as a solid, truthful, trusted Catholic media organization, and are only reporting facts that they were able to find.

Personally, I know nothing of the case, so I do not know who is correct, but I will assume the best of intent on both organizations referenced, and that they are working with the best knowledge available to them.
