What are some predictions that ID has made and that have been shown to be correct, for example?
Predictions of Design :
(1) Natural structures will be found that contain many parts arranged in intricate patterns that perform a specific function (e.g. complex and specified information).
(2) Forms containing large amounts of novel information will appear in the fossil record suddenly and without similar precursors.
(3) Convergence will occur routinely. That is, genes and other functional parts will be re-used in different and unrelated organisms.
(4) Much so-called “junk DNA” will turn out to perform valuable functions.

  • Creationists do not identify with Intelligent Design theory and vice verse.
Dembski, one of the main proponents of creationism, was one of the authors of a book called Of Pandas And People. It was simply about…creationism.

Then they wanted to get creationism taught in schools but knew it wouldn’t be allowed. So thought they’d call it ID instead. And republished the book, swapping all the references to ‘creationism’ to ‘Intelligent Design’.

I mean, you just have to laugh at the rank incompetence. As if no-one would notice.

Anyway, I’ll leave you guys to it, I think. You’ll find it a waste of time discussing science with people who think the planet is a few thousand years. What’s that you say? Who can these people be?

Hey, @buffalo, what method would you recommend for dating anything older than say 60,000 years old?

This is extremely disingenuous. William Dembski is indeed a major proponent of intelligent design, he is not a creationist, and does not adhere to the principle beliefs of creationism, for example a young earth. He did used to adhere to some elements of creationism I think, but people can change and grow. He is an extremely intelligent and serious scientist, and to portray him as some kind of swindling idiot trying to sneak creationism into schools is not fair. Yes, he was part of a group who wanted Intelligent Design theory to be taught in schools, and rightly so. Regarding the book “Of Pandas and People”, the phrase that was replaced with “intelligent design” was “creation science” not “creationism”. Obviously the wording looked too similar to creationism which was not allowed to be taught in schools. The science however, is not similar.

Certainly not me or the majority of scientists in the ID community.

Well you have a good time discussing science with the usual suspects who will probably turn up whenever the word ‘evolution’ is used in any thread. Ask them about the age of the earth before you waste too much time discussing things with those who think it’s around 40 generations old.
