Great Sermon

The movie itself I found depressing, because it could be …real. I found the Catholic bits so to speak mostly badly represented or just plain wrong.
 
I watched this movie and liked very much. The priest was innocent and did not deserve what that young woman did to him. We are talking about false witness here which happens all the time. the guilt goes unpunished and the innocent is usually punished. evreybody is afraid to judge the guilt but not the innocent.

Hi Rich, yes, I wish I’d hear more like it in real life. I think I’d still feel that way about it if I had just heard the audio.

Could you explain how the motives of the priest would void the importance of the message contained within the sermon? If they don’t, how is the sermon not a great sermon?
 
I didn’t watch the whole movie so I don’t know anything about the plot, but the feather analogy is awesome.

I believe one of the hardest things to avoid is gossip in the office. You want to be a team player, you don’t want to appear as “Holier than thou” like the topic in the other thread.

You want to have an ear open to office gossip so that you can know what is going on business wise.

How do you put a stop to malicious gossip without creating enemies?

Any tips?

I’m not sure how to stop it, but refusing to be part of it is wise at all costs imo. You may irritate some, but no good comes of gossip anyhow. At least you aren’t irritating God 😉

(as in breaking a certain Commandment)

It has been my experience that office gossip has nothing to do with office business. My best advice would be to do your best to always speak out against injustice and to always do so in a charitable way. Yet I’m not going to sugar coat the unfortunate reality that by living your Christian faith you’re going to step on a few toes…don’t worry though even our Lord stepped on a few toes.😉

I usually resort to nodding with a half smile without any (name removed by moderator)ut. Don’t know what else to do besides abruptly change the topic.

A lot of times one may be just talking about things and before you know it one has slipped into gossip.

It’s really a tough thing to deal with. One has to be careful not to an accessory to another’s sin.
 
One of the methods I use to avoid gossip is to always speak about others in a positive light and to try and show the gossipers that until these people have told them exactly why do what they do then anything they say is just useless speculation. Then I point out that I would never want that to happen to me or them and this usually shuts them up, usually.

You must be really popular in the office, LOL.

I’m half serious of course. Our goal is not to be the most popular.
 
I needed to see this. Avoiding the sin of gossip is definitely not my strong suit.
