My concern is that we have to be careful how we say things and not dumb down Church teaching.

Most likely people who consign others to hell will be there.The man is still warm and you are tearing at his corpse. He may well have received the last rites and gone straight to heaven. He gave pleasure to millions; have you?
We are forbidden to judge anyone as being worthy of hell, Your comments are totally against charity and mercy. Pavarotti will receive many prayers and will always be remembered. Will you?

Show me where I displayed uncharitableness and then I will believe you.

To say what we have said is not to speculate at all on his eternal destiny, nor to judge him as being worthy of hell (we are all, and may God’s grace prevent us going there, worthy of hell!).

Rather it is to comment honestly on his faults and failings as well as his many virtues. As we should upon our own faults and virtues. We do no honour and no good by whitewashing him beyond recognition.
 
Pavarotti’s voice was a gift.
We’ll know in the next life how he made out. Please God that he had a provided death.
I would ask that for all on this thread.

God knows if he did or did not repent. I do not know and cannot presume to know. I can and will pray for the repose of his soul. :gopray:

Remo Sartori, said the twice-married singer had been reconciled with the Catholic faith, reported the Sydney Morning Herald. Pavarotti had received the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick before losing his battle against pancreatic cancer last Thursday, aged 71.

It seems that Pavarotti has died within the Church. A Father Remo Sartori performed the Last Rites on Pavarotti and who heard his final confession, said: “During our meetings there were times of crisis but you could see that deep down he had faith.”
