Looks like the Navy SEALS who were recently killed were very close to either Osama or one of his direct reports.

From Michelle Malkin:

Memorial services for the Navy SEALS recently killed on a special ops mission in Afghanistan are being held across the country.

R.I.P.

Don’t miss Wretchard’s post on the mission at The Belmont Club.

My prayers go out for the families of these awesome men! SEALS rock—they are my heroes! God bless you guys!:love:

Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bid’st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
For those in peril on the sea.

Eternal Father, faithful friend,
Be quick to answer those we send
in brotherhood and urgent trust
On hidden missions dangerous;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For SEALS in air and on land and sea.

Godspeed, Shipmates.

That hymn has been going through my mind for days now. Thank you for the SEALs variation/verse.

Lord guard and guide the men who fly
Through those vast spaces in the sky
Be with them always in the air
In dark’ning storm or sunlight fair
O, Hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air.

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe’er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

I was very sad to hear of the deaths of so many Seals. It did seem, from the sheer number of them inserted in this region, that intelligence has sniffed out some big prey. I hope they catch OBL soon.

Why so much fuss over the deaths of these three men, and little, if any, over the deaths of the 16 who died enroute to helping them? It would seem that equal weight ought to be given to the deaths of any US servicemen killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Apparently you haven’t read the entire thread. It’s clear that we’re talking about the four originally inserted into a hot zone AND the helicopter full of 16 more who went in to get them and went down due to an RPG.

Are you just trying to stir up trouble?

I mourn the loss of any and all of my fellow brothers-in-arms. I’ve lost quite a few friends myself in this war, been shot at by these SOB’s from my perch above the fray but even so I have a special place for my SEAL brethren who routinely go deep into the “devil’s den” looking to rid the world of some very evil people. Isolated and alone in these situations they rely on their wits and skills to get through situations that would leave many with soiled skivvies. But then again I’m sure you knew that.

An appropriate feeling. I just wondered why there was so much fuss about these men, which has been unmatched by ceremonies and publicity for the hundreds of other US dead in the war.

Circumstances and storyline always matter. Just a fact of life.

There were ceremonies for the others as well.

All of them paled compared to the debates on Rove and Scientology though.
