Greatest Car Chase Movie

My favourite was Bullitt, with French Connection a close second. šŸ˜ƒ

The best recent car chase was in Gone in 60 Seconds.
 
Does a car chase that includes space ships count?

In the Sci-Fi movie SERENITY there is an awesome chase scene where the good guys are in an open cockpit hovercraft and are being chased by a space ship that is flying at nearly ground level. its one of the best chase scenes Iā€™ve ever seen, and culimantes when the good guys hovercraft is swept into the cargo door of their ship, on the fly, whereby they then blast out out of the atmosphere of the planet. The whole scene had the ships flying at just a few feet over the ground, some was in ā€œtownā€ and some was in a scrub-desert setting. Totally awesome chase scene.
 
This reminds me. My dad used to say ā€œyou canā€™t out run a Motorola, sonā€. I miss my Chevelle SS šŸ˜¦ .

OH and another hover-craft chase scene that is awesome would be the scene where Bruce Willis is driving the Taxi-hover-craft in the movie The 5-TH Element šŸ‘ I still think the scene in SERENITY is better, it gets your heart pumping and you end up sitting on the end of your seat, but in the 5th Element the police chasing the Taxi is excellent too.
 
Not having SEEN most of the other movies mentioned, my top pick is Blues Brothers, followed by the second Matrix movie, and Terminator II.

Those were good. Which movie had Eddie Murphy driving the semitruck through the market, smashing the veggies? I remember that scene and love it, although I donā€™t remember which movie it was.

Stupidest car chase ā€“ the Italian Job. Those little Cooper clown cars would have had their suspensions destroyed by carrying more than a ton of gold, much less pulling off all the stunts in the movie.

I can only suspend my disbelief so far.

Thatā€™s right! I remember now. It was a great scene though, with the market getting destroyed.
 
I am surprised that nobody mentioned Speed. Sandra Bullock driving the bus was great. šŸ˜ƒ

Thatā€™s not really a chase per say. I personally wouldnā€™t include it in the car chase category. Good movie nonetheless.

Anyway, anyone actually gone out one of the Hight Definition DVD formats: Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? It is worth upgrading?
