Greatest Late Middle Ages/Renaissance Popes?

The Popes of the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries were known for their material excesses and hedonistic practices. At least, that’s what people tell me. 😛

Anyway, are there any examples of great Popes during this time period who abstained from indulging in the material, and did their best to be the “servant of the servants of God”, the Vicar of Christ?

(And no Popes post-Reformation please, because we all know that would have changed things a lot.)
 
Benedict XI and Urban V were both beatified. Pius V was canonized, though you might exclude him because he reigned at the end of the Council of Trent.
