“the greatest treath to the catholic religion in the philippines”
Code:
as of 100yrs. ago the catholic religion reigns supreme in the
philippines.sadly today, that is not the case, a growing tide of
secularism, apathy amongs the youth and aggresive protestant
evangelism is buffeting the church on all sides. currently there
are more than 2000 so called ‘christian churches’ registered with
the philippines secureties and echange commission (sec).
of the myriad of so called ‘christian churches’ , two are the
most active in leading catholics away from their faith:
Code:
IGLESIA NI CHRISTO or CHURCH OF CHRIST
founded by one felix manalo in 1912. this religion believes in
‘sola scriptura’ but rejects ‘sola fide’ or salvation by faith. they
teach that felix manalo is an angel/messenger send to estab-
lish the true church in the ‘last days’. they totally reject the di-
vinity of christ, saying he is ONLY HUMAN’. and salvation can
only be achieved when you become a member of their church.
they don’t celebrate christmas because it is pagan in origin.
this church has expirienced large growth in membership after
world war2 and majority of their converts are catholics. today
they are still growing and you can see their churches in every
corner of the philippines and also in other parts of the world
largely because of immigrant filipino workers. one of their min-
ister boasted that ‘only within 50yrs they managed to destroy
the dominance of the catholic religion in the philippines’.
they are also politcally influencial because they don’t allow
their members to vote for political leaders not approved by the
leaders of their religion. most of their converts still come from
the catholic religion and they spend vast amounts of money
and t.v airtime to malign and twist catholic doctrines and their
effectiveness is proven for now they boast a membership
numbering in the millions and they are still growing.

MEMBERS OF CHURCH OF GOD INTERNATIONAL
their preisiding minister is eliseo soriano ( for a fairly accurate
short bio, go to wikipedia and search for eli or eliseo soriano.)
this church rapid explosion in membership began during the
late 80’s (church founded during the 30’s) and again most of
their converts are from the catholic religion. they also believe
‘in sola scriptura’ but also reject ‘sola fide’. they believe that
jesus is divine but not the same as the father, thereby reject-
ting the ‘trinity’. this religious group is also virulently anticatholi

ironically both of this curches who believes in ‘sola scriptura’ has
doctrines diametrically opposed two each other! both are now en
gaged in a ‘conversion war’ with each other, spending vast amount
of time and money trying to prove each others interpretation of the
bible is wrong… but united in their hatred and their opposition
to the one true church…
'THE HOLY ROMAN APPOSTOLIC CATHOLIC CHURCH'

How could our dear separated brethren be a threat to the Church?

Of course they are not a threat to the Church as she is the pillar and mainstay of the truth, but they can be a threat to the faith of the little ones.

i agree that the church is the pillar and mainstay of the truth and
the promise of christ in the scriptures’that the gates of hades
shall not prevail against her’ and so on…
what i’m only trying to point out is that ‘our dear separated breth-
ren’ are doing their very best to ‘separate’ more ‘little ones’ from
the faith…i’m just using some of your words here…

this is just food for thought : in the philippines a lot of catholics
are converting mainly to the two above mentioned religion, not
to mention born again, baptist etc.etc. so they already are a
threat to faith of ‘little ones’…

anyway i think the parable of the lost sheep comes to mind here…
i apologize if i used the word threat to the church…

on hindsight i should have written ‘challenge’ instead of ‘threat’

For the record, neither of these churches is “protestant”.

Inasmuch as they deny essentials of the historic faith such as the Trinity, they are not even Christian. If they deny Sola Fide they aren’t Protestant and believing that some guy is an angel makes them “cultic”.

Having said that, iwanttobelieve, you seem to have some trouble with the doctrine of the trinity as well if you think it means that “Jesus is the same as the Father” and that this church’s denial of it constitutes denial of the Trinity.

when i wrote the same,i meant GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE
SON AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT as oppose to their teaching
that jesus is also god but a lesser god, that he was also created
by god the father…what i meant was like GOD THE FATHER,
JESUS THE SON IS ALSO ETERNAL

we should remain strong with our faith! and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit the church will remain strong! Godbless!!
