I am not very familiar with the Green Scapular. I grew up hearing of it and just kind of, it’s good to have it and we had them on our bed posts. Then a really odd thing happened. My husband (who is agnostic) and I bought a house, lived in it for a while (I was out of the Church at the time), rented it out, and then returned to it. By this time I was back in the Church and have been prying for my husband’s conversion a lot. He was changing the AC filter one day and I happened to stop to tell him something when I noticed placed upright and basically looking right at him a Green Scapular. Ok, it’s in the little closet where the AC filter is! I jokingly asked my husband if he found it and put it there and he said no. I had changed that filter before and never saw it. This time it was very obvious. Now, logically I can deduce that maybe a tenant put it there, (although I know one tenant was a non practicing LDS family) but why would you put one there? It gets weirder. I keep finding them. Almost like they were there all along in places that I don’t remember seeing them before. I have never bought one. I am very nervous to wear one as I don’t have confidence that I can live up to wearing one yet. My question is, do ya’ll think I should start wearing one, maybe one of the ones I have found?

YES! What’s really odd/mysterious about your story is this: Have you ever heard of WHY one gives out green scapulars?

Promises/Benefits:
  1. Conversion of those who do not have the faith
  2. Reconciliation to the Church for those who have lost/strayed from the faith
  3. Assurance of a happy death
  4. Strengthening of the faith for those already in the Church
  5. Protection from Satan for those who wear or promote the scapular
You’ve truly been blessed by our Lord! Pray that our Lady will hold your husband close and bring him back to our Lord in His Holy Church!

Thanks! I put it in my wallet to keep hold of it. I guess my biggest problem is that I am too logical. Would there be a reasonable explanation for putting one in your AC vent? I understand that it’s a stretch, but I really have to put all logical reasons away. It’s a weakness I’m working on:blush: . I’m trying to be less analytical in my faith and more intuitive (if that’s the right word), so sorry if it sounds like I’m beating a dead horse with this.

Best explanation I can think of would be this:

I’ve heard that some people will hide the green scapular in the house of a friend or family member that has lost the faith, or is struggling with it. Someone who is very adept at hiding spiritual tokens might think of putting it in the AC vent. After all, how often would the person look up there? And to think the Virgin has been praying for you all along from the AC vent and you never knew it!

But what is the difference between the brown and green scapulars? I, personally, know a bit about the brown scapular, but not the green one. How is it different?

Ah, the Green Scapular is wonderful! It’s worked on the hardest of hearts and most impossible looking cases. I’ve seen it in my own life.

I have the green scapular. I got it because I became really fascinated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I don’t wear it though. I have it hanging nar my bed, and have one that I usually carry with me, in my pocket or purse. I would like to wear it, and I have put it on a few times but it feels weird being under my shirt and i feel like it pokes my shirt and shows. I think my bra has something to do with that happening. How do you women (or women you know) wear a scapular?

another thought-- This will probably sound stupid, but I feel like the string around my neck looks really obvious and weird too.

Just mentioned this in another thread today - I have an agnostic friend who has a green scapular tucked between the mantle and the bricks in her fireplace. She lives with her parents and her dad is an atheist who forbade them to go to church. I put the scapular there for the benefit of the whole family.

If you know someone whom you’d like to see converted, but they would be resistant to that idea, then hiding a green scapular in their house and praying for them is one way you could use the Green Scapular. Perhaps the person who hid all those scapulars in your house had the same thing in mind, and is still praying for whoever lives in the house.

Is there a particular blessing for the Green Scapular or does the priest just have to simply bless it? I’ve looked at the information Fish Eaters has about scapulars before and I think I may try to acquire a Green Scapular - not least because my family is all Protestant. Plus, if you wear it everyday you don’t have to worry about not having on anything green when Saint Patrick’s Day rolls around. 😃

Oh, and this sounds kinda silly, but “happy death” means receiving the sacraments before death, right? Dying in a state of grace?

Prayerfully.

There are sometimes specific blessings, but the priest doesn’t have to do them specifically. I do not think there is a specific blessing needed (or written) specifically for the green scapular.

Hi no don’t get het up the “green Scapular” has a very holy strong promis to it.
A long time ago (23 od Years) I had some and one day I spoke to a wife of a friend of mine, who said that she felt sorry for her husband who’s uncle had just been given 2 weeks to live.

She is Anglican he with no relationship to God.
I asked if she believed that God can heal, she replied that He could.
I handed her a “green scapular” and told her just to believe and leave the praying up to me. She fround took it and two weeks latter I met her and how my friends uncle was. She fround again and told me that the Dr’s were confused because he seemed to have less canser spots. I reminded her of the green scapular and did she still have it to which she said yes.

2 weeks latter I met my friends wife, and again i asked the same question. My friend said that Dr’s don’t understand but he now is up and almost ready to go home.

2 weeks latter again i this time met the friend and asked hom the same question to which he replied that his uncle is now back to work with no problems at all.
That is the power of the “Green scapular” it is one where God promises healing of canser and such illnesses.

I hope that helps
Godbless

Remember that all of us who pray the Green Scapular prayer are united together. 🙂

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us, now and at the hour of our death.
