**I experienced a great miracle based on the promises of the Green Scapular.

I gave this Scapular to my Father. I knelt at his feet and told him about the promises of the Scapular and asked him just to keep it - anywhere. He promised. My prayers were answered - it is one beautiful story.

If you are intending to give it to someone that you love deeply - I encourage you to be honest with them. Tell them about the promises and what you are committing to. The rest is up to your prayers and God’s promise through Our Blessed Mother.**
I’m glad your prayers were answered.

That would not work for me. To the individual that I am praying for, a scapular, or any sacramental would be, to him, “idolatry” and I would be accused of being victim of some type of evil possession. This person truly hates all things Catholic and thinks we’re all the work of the devil.

…and this is why I am praying so hard for him and for a softening of his heart. 😦

I hid the green scapular under his mattress. It’s a tempurpedic mattress, fairly new, and, according to him, does not need to be flipped.

For those of you reading this, I beg you,:(😦 please say a little prayer for him, that his heart will be softened to at least listen to what the Catholic Church TRULY teaches, if not for a full conversion. His first name is Al.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Amen.

***O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O Purest Mary, O Sweetest Mary, let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me whenever I call on thee, for, in all my needs, in all my temptations I shall never cease to call on thee, ever repeating thy sacred name, Mary, Mary.

Amen.

***Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

I will pray for your Al if you will pray for my Allen! 😉 Well, even if you don’t, I will still pray for Al.

I am going to get a green scapular this week and put it under my husband’s side of the mattress…He would react like your loved one, although he doesn’t hate the Church, there is no love lost between him and God and he would be in mortal sin if he died suddenly.

Thanks!

I will most definitely pray for your Allen! Thanks Juliane!🙂

**I say trust in the promise of this Sacramental. I fully trusted it. If it answered my prayers for my Father…I trust it will always be faithful. Remember - the promises are based on you and not on the person. Blessings and prayers…promise, **

Thanks for your prayers saveusfromhell, domandcarols and jmjconder.

I will continue to pray for him and that my faith be strengthened.

I have also started the Novena that starts on Nov 30th through Dec 25 for this intention.

I am thankful for the Green Scapular

I will remember all of you in my prayers as well.

God bless us all!🙂

Thank you for you inquiry Alfred. Here are three sites on the Green Scapular
you may be interested in. It is good to be cautious and to check out things.

I really wish I were more knowledgeable about this so I could set the record straight. I don’t know how reputable your three websites are. I distinctly recall reading several times that the Green Scapular has never been approved and once that the purported approvals by Pope Pius IX are more or less myths.

Catholic Encyclopedia, written long after these supposed approvals, doesn’t mention the Green Scapular in its list of approved scapulars.

I don’t have anything against this scapular from what little I know of it (and I’ve learned more just from this thread), but considering that I know for a fact that there are people out there saying it has never been approved I won’t presume it is approved until I see it from a clearly reputable source.

But it may be wondered whether or not it has been submitted to the decision of the Church; whether it has some ecclesiastical approbation to recommend it.
This was done by Father Borgogno, Procurator General of the Congregation of the Mission at the Holy See, who achieved complete success. He gives the following statement of it in a letter dated April 3, 1870:
"Having spoken about the Green Scapular to the Holy Father, I related to him the details of its origin adding that particular graces of conversions among hardened sinners had been obtained by means of it. When asked me whether I had any with me, I answered in the affirmative and showed him one. The Holy Father took it, examined it attentively and said to me: ‘This is a beautiful and pious picture.’ Then he added, ‘Well, what do you wish in this matter?’ I answered, ‘Nothing else than the permission for our Sisters (the Daughters of Charity) to make and distribute scapulars similar to this one, with the faculty of distributing them.’ Then he said: 'I give full permission for that. Write to these good Sisters that I authorize them to make and distribute them. ’ " Hence it is plain that it was with a full knowledge of the matter, after attentively considering this image, that the Pope, while praising its beauty and piety, gave his sanction thereto.
What more could be desired? In fact it is here a question of nothing but a pious image and not of the badge of a confraternity. And the new Canon Law (Can. 1385, 1,3:2) which forbids the printing of any pious picture without an ecclesiastical authorization, says that this authorization must be given by the Ordinary of the place inhabited by the author, or that where the picture is to be printed, adding that for religious a permission from a Major Superior is moreover required (ib., 3). Now, in 1911 there appeared at Lille a pamphlet of eight pages on the Green Scapular with a reproduction of its two pictures; and this pamphlet bore the approbation of Most Honored Father Fiat, Superior General of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity (July’ 8, 1911), and also an authorization of Msgr. Delamaire, Coadjutor and soon afterwards Archbishop of Cambrai (July 13, 1911).
It may be remarked, by the way, that the Green Scapular was not a stranger to Our Holy Father Pope Pius XI, since it had a place on his working desk side by side with the Miraculous Medal. The following is what the Most Honored Mother of the Daughters of Charity wrote on the subject as she was relating her journey to Rome and her audience of January 27, 1923:
“The audience with the Sovereign Pontiff was consoling. As I was telling him that our Sisters were using with success the Green Scapular for the conversion of sinners, I offered one to His Holiness who took it in his hands, then placed it on his writing desk with the Miraculous Medal.”
Hence there need be no anxiety about the legitimacy of this devotion. Not only does it fall under no censure, but it moreover presents itself to the piety of the faithful with all the warrants required by the Church.

The Green Scapular
Ten years after the manifestation of the Miraculous Medal to Sister Catherine Laboure in 1830, the Blessed Mother entrusted the Green Scapular of the Immaculate Heart to Sister Justine Bisqueyburu, likewise a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
The Green Scapular was twice approved by Pope Pius IX, in 1863, and again in 1870, when he said: "Write to these good Sisters that I authorize them to make and distribute it."
Reports of conversions and cures attributed to the Green Scapular should be sent with details of time, place and persons to the Daughters of Charity, Marian Center, address below.

The Daughters of Charity and Vincention priest would not be able to make and distribute this sacramental if it did not receive approval. A lot of people claiming it isn’t approved, are confusing the scapular with the association of the Confraternity, which has not received approval. Many think if it has no approved association or confraternity, it isn’t approved itself; hence the confusion. I lived in Emmitsburg for 18 years, until a little over a year ago. The Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity is located there. The Red Scapular of the Passion, The Miraculous Medal, and the Green Scapular are often given out by the Sisters and the priests. and are available for purchase in the Shrine of Elizabeth Anne Seton Gift Shop, and at St Philomena’s Catholic Bookstore in town.

Here is a link to the Daughters of Charity’s website regarding the scapular.

To my knowledge the Green Scapular has never been approved by the Church. I would hesitate to describe something in that category as a “no brainer” or a “shoe in”. I would think you would want to examine the history and status of something like this very closely before you even thought about adopting it.

Also I suspect your post violates CAF rules about unapproved private revelations, though I’m not certain and I don’t report posts I’m not morally certain they violate forum rules.
Didnt pope pius IX in 1863 approve it twice?
