I’ve been doing some study lately on the Church’s teaching of social justice. One thing that has stood out amazingly is the connection and affinity between the Catholic Social Doctrine and the values of the Green Movement.
At some spots it looks as if the Greens completely plagarized the thought of the Magestariam.
Yet one big blunder of our U.S. Green Party is its adamant pro-choice stance. It is quite perplexing that those who promote nonviolence so enthusiastically also ignore the killing of unborn children.
One concept that has been on my mind is the forming of a group, a Greens for Life, if you will. I mean, heck, there’s already a Democrats for Life, a Feminists for Life, and a Libertarians for Life, so why not. In fact, I think there would be more in common between Greens and Catholics than between Catholics and any of the other groups.
One person who is both a Green activist and an adamant pro-lifer is the political scientist Jeff Taylor. You should check out his blog: http://www.popcorn78.blogspot.com/
So, are there any like minds out there?
