The religion of Islam has benefited tremendously from the marriage of Muhammad to Aisha. From her candid description of that marriage, men today understand how Muhammad was gentle with his beloved, and how they should also be. Is that not a good enough reason? Then how about the fact that she was incredibly intelligent with an impressive memory and able to describe practices of Muhammad in his home regarding the religion more authoritatively than any other Companion?
I don’t think her age had anything to do with Muhammad wanting to marry her. Not at all. She was the only wife of his who had not been previously married, and divorced or widowed. But yet he refused to consummate the marriage until she was older! Were sex with a young girl his ultimate goal, why do you think he would have waited so long?

what do u mean ? How a non-relative woman could stay with him & learnt about Islam ? It’s only possible for a wife to stay very closely with her husband , observes how he is applying Islam in his daily life etc.

i meant that one can teach abou how to treat women/husbands without even being married. But if the person is married, he doesn’t have to marry a little girl to* teach*, since Muhammad could have taught the same with any of his wives, including Khadija who was older than him. The Age per se has nothing to do with teaching .

It is not a lie. Muhammed married a girl who may have been as young as six and they consummated the marriage when she was about 9. Now, there is a possiblity that she was post-pubescent, but she was still under 12. You can check Muslim sources on this.

24.33, 4.3, 4.24 , 23.6, 33.50,70.30 Your slave girls are your possessions( you can have sex with them, gift them, sell them or ransom them). Just don’t force them to sell their bodies to earn you a livelihood. But if you are under a compulsion (hard up and starving), then go ahead do it, Allah may forgive you.
Our Prophet lived these ayas to the fullest. By Allah’s order Prophet Mohammed received 20% of all booty including captured women. His biggest takes came from Mustaleeq and Quraiza raids where his 20% booty came to hundreds of captured women. He sold them, gifted them or ransomed them as the following hadiths say:

From his share of captive women, Prophet Mohammed gave his son-in-law, Ali a slave girl, Raytah bt Hilal to enjoy her at his will. He also presented Uthman b. Affan, his son-in-law, another slave girl Zainab b. Hayan, and bestowed another girl (name unknown) to his father in-law Omar Ibn Khattab. Omar gave that girl to his son Abdullah. Most of Prophet’ s other elite companions received slave girls as gifts.

Personally, I don’t see how! You hear many horror stories about how Muslim husbands treat their wives, and though not sanctioned in the Quran, there are lots of honor killings which say a lot about how Muslim men think of women in general.
I never cease to marvel at Islamic logic! Couldn’t he have found someone older who’d never been married before, so he married a 6 year old? Three years is not that long considering he had sex with her when she was 9!

The whole problem I have with an old geezer marrying a child is just that - but this is one thing that many miss - mohammed broke his word. This is something that should have been held high, but mohammed couldn’t even control himself and broke his word to Aisha’s father.
Old geezers marrying young things was more common in those days, but if men broke their word - that should tell a lot of the caliber of man that mohammed was.
Oh, and I am a kafir according to planten. :yup: And proud of it.
If a muslim couldn’t take the money out of my hands then I would walk away without buying the thing. There is always another store.
When I went to Ireland, depending on the city, there is not always that option though. I don’t know how it is in England.
I find it offensive that ‘modesty’ is used as a defense to this behavior as I find ‘modesty’ as an excuse to bring back segregation. It is because they think we are dirty - read the koran - we are lower than dogs, pigs and urine - and muslim women are just a tad above the non-muslim but they are lower than the muslim male. And this is why they should not be allowed to get away with this behavior in businesses, and (with segregation) in the schools and elsewhere if it is being done.
