Greeting at mass?

It has happened fairly regularly at a Church we attend at a beach vacation destination. It always struck me as nice since many of those in attendence were not members of the church.

Unnecessary talking before the Blessed Sacrament is irreverent. If one wishes to introduce oneself, one may do it before or after the Holy Sacrifice of Mass in the narthex.

The Blessed Sacrament is not exposed but is in the tabernacle before the start of Mass.

Also, during Mass, when the Blessed Sacrament is on the altar, we are asked to exchange a greeting of peace with each other. So, doing such a thing is not irreverent in the eyes of the Church.

The Church is not infallible in areas of discipline.
