Hi,

I recently found about Signum Magnum Apparuit in Caelo (Meaning “A great sign appeared in heaven” based off of Revelation 12’s depiction of the Mary), a gregorian chant sung on the Mass of the Assumption. Although it’s October and not August, it still sounds beautiful.

Most Catholics people here probably this song already, but here is an awesome version of it:

“The Mass of the Assumption” is out of this world!!
It brought the atmosphere of the Monastery to me.
Thanks, PraiseChrist for the link to the video!!

It is indeed a beautiful chant. Interestingly, this chant is a relatively new composition. Following the dogma of the Assumption in 1950, Ven. Pope Pius XII revised the proper chants for the Mass of the Assumption and they were included in the Roman Missal in 1951. Signum Magnum was composed by a monk of Solesmes Abbey. The Communion chant, Beatam Me Dicent was also newly composed at the same time.
