The Schola Bellarmina has a (mostly) complete collection of Gregorian chant spanning the liturgical year. I know that I’ve come across at least one other similar collection (maybe it was a little less complete) but cannot recall the name or find it under relevant Internet searches. The Choralschola der Wiener Hofburgkapelle has a pretty large, but still quite incomplete collection, so that’s not the one I’m thinking of.

If anyone can think of any other more-or-less complete Gregorian chant collection covering the entire liturgical year, I’d appreciate a tip in the right direction.

Although I’d prefer to get the chants of the 1962 liturgical year, I’ll take the name of any collection you happen to know.

Thanks a ton.

Check out the YouTube channel “GradualeProject”, they are putting together the all the chants of the current Graduale Romanum. The chants are nearly identical to the ones in the pre-Conciliar Graduale, but of course arranged for the current liturgical year. It would be easy to find an older Graduale, and make up an index correlating the GradualeProject chants to the older liturgical year.

Of course that would be only a partial Gregorian collection, as it doesn’t touch the Breviary. There you have to distinguish between the Monastic (5th century to this day, with post-Conciliar adaptations), the Roman (1910 to 1962) or the Liturgy of the Hours, of which a few good sources now exist in spite of some controversial re-interpretations of some antiphons and a few Neo-Gregorian compositions as well. The breviary would be a much bigger task.

There are also a number of other chants for quasi-liturgical circumstances.

If all you want are the books, that’s another matter. Solesmes has most of the books you would want on their on-line library, at least post-Conciliar for the Mass and pre- and post-Conciliar for the monastic breviary. Pre-conciliar for the Mass there’s the Liber Usualis and you can also find various used Graduals around.

I’d never come across the Graduale Project - thank you for introducing me to it.

Perhaps I ought to have been more specific in my post. I’m only looking for the Mass chants (although if a collection happens to have a few chants from the Office as well, all the better!). The collection I have in mind, whose name I cannot recall, has the entire Temporal Cycle of Masses and selections from the Sanctoral Cycle, much like the Bellarmina edition.

I’m familiar with the Liber, Graduale, Vesperale, etc. It’s really just the CDs I’m looking for.

OK got it, the Graduale Project might help then.

Solesmes has a large collection of CDs including Mass chants but I’m pretty sure they don’t have the entire Graduale assembled in one place. Most of their stuff is on iTunes though, so you might be able to assemble at least a partial picture.

There are a lot of CDs out there but I haven’t come across a Mass collection yet for the entire annual cycle.
