I ran across this freeware music editor. It uses the old notation that was used for Gregorian chats – I don’t know how useful it will be to those of you who enjoy the chant but I figured I’d post it.

Ok, I tried it out. The funny thing is that though the porrectus is displayed in the font file and shown in the help menu it doesn’t appear in the toolbar at all. Also I haven’t figured out how to get the notes vetically one on top of the other to form, for example, a podatus. The complex notes are therefore a bit difficult to get. But I think it would do very well for setting psalms to simple tones.
