And I am mature enough to stay away from trash on TV šŸ˜‰ . I’ve never been one to ā€œeat upā€ promiscuous story lines. I’ve never been into romance novels–never cracked one open. But I guess from your reply that Grey’s Anatomy has continued in the same moral stink-hole in which it began.

Hmmm… what about virtual pornography (where the pictures are purely computer-generated)? That’s not ā€œreal lifeā€ either… I wonder if you are mature and reasonable enough to enjoy that too?

I’m going to call a spade a spade, and Grey’s Anatomy *is * indecent entertainment.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

Im not overly sensitive or prude like and can enjoy normal TV without worrying that its going to hurt my moral fiber because so and so is hooking up with so and so and EEK! I looked! that must mean I have to run out and do the same thing! forget about being married and being Catholic and going to church and the Legion and all that good stuff! I watched Greys Anatomy and now must do everything thing they do! Guess I better change my major to Medicine too! even though blood makes me queezy, OH! and better not forget to sleep with my boss! :ehh: Catholic Sam your insenuation about pornography was rude and highly unappreciated and WAY off of the course of this conversation.

Some people might think this is the danger they face. If they do, I can’t argue. They know themselves better than I know them. I recommend they use their remotes. But since I don’t see the danger, I think I’ll get the popcorn ready for Part2 of Gray’s Anatomy.

I don’t think so, I think it is exactly the point I was trying to make. And as mikew262 points out, ā€œwe’re all entitled to our own opinions.ā€
ā€œā€¦To bring an enemy into the camp is to betray the citadel. It was not until the Trojans admitted the fatal wooden horse within the city walls that Illium fell. This combination of the bad with the good cannot but end in evil results. It brings disorder, confusion, suspicion, uncertainty to distract and divide Catholics, and all this to the benefit of the enemy and our disasterā€¦ā€

Have you thought about how offended God must be at this horrible portrayal of His gift of human sexuality? Probably not, because I get the feeling with some of you, it’s all about ā€œme me meā€ and what I can watch and what *I * find appealing. Not about what is pleasing to God.

TarAshly, I’m glad you’re a Legion of Mary. I am too, and I’m sorry to see fellow Legionaries bickering like this. God bless you for the wonderful work you do, and please pray for me tonight as my husband and I make an emergency trip to visit a man who is dying.

Yea i cant wait for next weeks episode! I was so mad when it ended last night, my husband kept saying you know its going to be a two parter right and was telling him SHH! dont say that you will jinx it! turns out he was right! NOOOO!!!

I doubt God is offended at all. If sexuality is his gift, it looks like people have enthusiastically accepted it. I get the idea that some people watch TV and see ā€œsex sex sex.ā€ One bunch told us Sponge Bob was gay.

I agree. its over sensationalized and condemed. yes there is sex on TV yes its not always married sex or morally good and so on, but some shows that contain it have great stories behind them, and great jokes, so often my sides hurt after an episode of Greys Anatomy from laughing so hard, I dont even notice the sex but some its all they notice and therefore they cant enjoy that show. some people are more sensitive than others, thats all there is too it, whats ok for one is not ok for another and we shouldnt condemn each other for what one can handle and the other cant.

ā€œ*not always * married sexā€? I would say *hardly ever * married sex! Perhaps that was Catholic Sam’s point.

I’m old enough to remember when movie story lines were along the line of: boy chases girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl, boy marries girl. Boy and girl have sex after the final credits–off camera.
If you will notice, the new standard story line is: boy chases girl, boy loses girl, boy regains girl, they prove their love by having sex, finally maybe get married after the final credits.

If this is the story line kids see constantly while growing up, is it any wonder that they will emulate it, and take it for granted that that’s just the way things are supposed to be?

And yes, Grey’s Anatomy is a well written, fast moving show, (with way too many commercials), if a little over the top as far as the medical situations and personal situations portrayed. How many interns have been faced with removing a live bomb from the body of a patient?

I agree with you on that point.
My point of this thread was to just to say that I thought Grey’s Anatomy is a well written and entertaining show, while still being aware that it is lacking in many ways as far as morality is concerned. That being said, I am a mature viewer who can tell the difference between inappropriate situation vs. the blantant showing of skin on shows like Las Vegas or the obvious homosexual agenda of Will and Grace. I have even been frustrated with Dancing with the Stars lately because the costumes are getting skimpier and skimpier. Agh!

So, was Dr. Grey’s action of putting her hand in the patient and act of courage or stupidity?

Regardless, I will be glued to part II of GA next week. I hope Dr. Bailey’s husband gets out of surgery okay!

(And yes, I do know these aren’t real people. And yes, I do have a life.) šŸ˜‰

Last night was the first time I watched Grey’s Anatomy. I thought it was very good except for one part. I don’t know the characters names but a young nurse cornered a young doctor (both single I think) in a room in the hospital and she demanded sex. That to me was not needed. There are other shows that I would watch sometime like Will and Grace (a long time ago) but seemed to turn completely to a particular agenda (homosexuality it this case). I think almost everything on TV has some objectionable parts but I do enjoy TV and just kinda pick and choose the entertainment that is not centered on justifying objectionable actions or views. Just my 2 cents.

Good point, that is a point where I would switch the channel and come back to the show afterwards.

Of course, real interns are just a lot more boring than those portrayed on GA, and have a much narrower emotional range. But I do have a weakness for medical dramas. I worked for awhile in a hospital while going to college; it was interesting at times, but I don’t recall any staff having sex in a closet. But, that was then, and this is now. No telling what goes on now.

(PS: Now, for some real life medical drama, read the book Complications, by Atul Gawande.)

Actually, she is a fellow doctor.
I LOVE the show & can’t wait until next week!

This show is one of only 2 shows I watch each week (The Office being the other show). I love it! This is another great ā€œensemble castā€ with so many favorites to choose!

I’ve also gotten a little hooked on Project Runway…but I’m not upset if I miss it.

The closet scene is much more understandable in the context of many past episodes. I can see where one might think it doesn’t fit from the perspective of that one show. But it really did fit from the perspective of the entire history of the characters.

Both were young doctors. 😃

I hope hes ok too! I think George was being really sweet to her, its amazing that he is the one to be there for her in her time of need. I love him! he is my favorite character on the show. I think Meredith put her hand in there as a reflex and now shes thinking ā€œwhat did I just do?ā€ but her character is obviously very brave and eduring so maybe it was courage. I will be glued myself this Sunday!

That would be Dr. Stevens, Izzy Stevens. and the guy was Dr. Karev, Alex Karev, he and Izzy had a former relationship that fell apart, they thought the hospital was gonna blow up and got caught up in the moment obviously, was it right morally or otherwise no of course not, but if you follow the show you’ll get it. There has been a huge character change in Karev, hes changed a lot and last weeks episode dropped a bombshell about Izzy and who she really is. Shes actually a pretty noble charcter. I like her too and hope it works out for her and Alex.(yes I know TV show, have a life too, very busy life, but love this show!)

P.S. not in response to momof3boys, more of an add on as I see she is a fellow fan! šŸ‘ just general info for all non watchers. Also Im so glad someone finally started a thread on this show! So what do yall think is going to happen to Baileys husband? will Derek leave him on the surgery table to go help Meredith? and what about Chief? I sure hope hes going to be ok, besides being a great guy, he has such a bond with Merediths mom, he seems to be really helping her with her Alzheimers…any ideas?
