Grizzly Man

We watched this movie, via Netflix. I found it very interesting. Rated R for language. If you figure your kids know the ‘F’ word, it shouldn’t bother you.

I give it a thumbs up. A very neutral examination of this man and his ‘work’. It’s more a look at his personality and eccentricity. I thought his comments on homosexuality were insightful, as he grappled with his failures with women and bemoaned the fact that he wasn’t gay, saying how much simpler life must be for homosexuals who didn’t have to cater to women.

The kids loved the foxes the best, and couldn’t figure out why he liked the bears so much. It examined his drug use, and former alcoholism. Really, a very good movie, I reccomend it.

We laughed until we cried with that movie…it was just OUT THERE…language was alot but not more than you hear around campus.

Oh, I don’t know if he was any more off his rocker than more mainstream people. He was a man who had done alot of drugs, and had some funky girlfriends. I thought his ex-girlfriend was a goofy woman, just the type who would be attracted to such lousy husband material as this guy. I think he might have been the inspiration for the book “The Peter Pan Syndrome”.

I liked the interview with the native Alaskan guy, who had a better grasp on the realities of nature and the line between humans and bears that this man had blurred. The guy was definately fooling himself as to his great mission of protecting the bears, when they were already protected on this reserve. I think he was someone who bonded too closely with his teddy bear as a kid.

I love you Americans. You are the best at everything. We have been watching you for years now on our televisions and we are becoming more like you every decade.
You must be living life at 90 mile a hour over there because its just an education just to tune in and get a bit of your natural talk.
You can see from my conversation line that I don’t get out much but I nearly went to see the Grizzly Man and decided to maybe catch it when it came out on video. You can see that some of the Irish are really boring.
But thanks to you all I’ll not be watching it. I prefer something like “We were Soldiers” with Mel Gibson. Something you can go away and feel good about the world and the way God punches holes in our lives to make us see what really is important.

Hey I encourage you to watch it Cid. If you don’t mind cussing and weird behavior, like smelling bear feces and acting like it’s the greatest thing on earth. I really felt for the guy. He had more passion than I do. He liked bears and wanted to know them more than anyone else. Nothing wrong with that. He would probably call me crazy too.

Thanks Celtic, but no thanks. I know what I like and I think that life is better too when a person knows what he don’t like.
I feel a sermon coming on ( I’m more than a bit religious) but I’ll stick to thanking you anyway. Sure nice, to meet nice people online. I was on Msn for a while and it was frustrating keeping up with the multi conversations. It was like a motorway where if you stood still you would get run over as your last comment disappeared up the page.
Hopefully if I’m ever really killed in a motor accident I’ll disappear up the page if you know what I mean. That is the great thing about our religion. God is with us. With us in the Mass with us in the Eucharist, with us in our thoughts that turn to him, and yes with us especially in danger. A sort of warm and cosy thought!
