The group Faithful Voice was formed in response to the dissident group Voice of the Faithful and consists of individuals who are faithful to the teachings of the Church. This group is protesting an honor/award given to the mayor of Boston (Tom Menino) by Catholic charities. Menino is pro-choice and pro gay marriage and the group feels strongly that Catholic Charities shouldn’t be honoring an individual that so obviously supports positions that are in opposition to the church. The article below refers to the group as “activists” which is ironic.

As I recall this is the same group that is placing adoptions with homosexual couples. They claim the state [devil?] made me do it.

Yes, they have provided adoptions to a few homosexual couples and claim that due to funding mandates, they are required to do so but this is in direct opposition to Vatican teachings. They can’t ignore the harmful result of allowing these adoptions.

It is nice that Abp O’Malley is not going to attend the dinner, however, it is not good that he is still allowing an organization within the Archdiocese to ‘honor’ a pro-abortion, etc. politician.

Also, Catholic Charities of Boston placed 13 children with gay couples. We don’t know how many children were placed gay individuals. I suspect, therefore, that the number is really much higher than 13.

Boston Archbishop Sean O’Malley has announced that he is not attending Catholic Charities event that will be honoring the mayor of Boston, Tom Menino. Menino is pro-choice and in favor of same-sex marriage. It’s great that some bishops are taking a stand! See link below for article:

Wonder how long it is going to take the bishops to realize that these groups really don’t care whether the bishop gets to eat or not.

Maybe if he were to deny them access to Church Funds and facitilties it would get there attention better than his hunger strike.

Boston mayor Tom Menino is now speaking to the press about his dissatisfaction with ArchBishop Sean O’Malley’s boycott of the Catholic charities event that Menino is getting honored at. A quote from the article listed below highlights Menino’s ignorance of his faith:

When the church tries to exert political pressure to bring civil policy in line with its teachings, Menino said, ''I can argue with them, and I can not respect them for those decisions."

''When the pope speaks on doctrine, that is absolute," Menino said. ''I don’t think choice and gay marriage are doctrine."

The Chuch teachings on abortion and gay marriage are essential to the faith and require an assent by the faithful and have been articulated clearly by both the Pope and the bishops (the Magisterium) - people who disagree with them are full-fledged dissenters. See the full article linked below:
