I started saying the Rosary daily this past summer. I noticed that a few hours after I said the Rosary once in awhile I would hear a growling/guttural sound in my room. I figured it was someone outside or the tv was on, but nope, all was quiet around me. It would happen immediately after I walked into the room and would be a sound that was quite clear that I thought someone was talking to me. Well, I just brushed it off and figured I was hearing things.

Then two days ago my sister told me about her experiences after saying the Rosary too. She had just started saying the Rosary upon my suggestion. Unlike me, she says the Rosary at night before she goes to bed (I say mine in the morning). This night after saying the Rosary, she was awoken by a distinct growling sound in her room. She thought it was someone outside or the wind, but she got up and checked and there was nothing. She went back to bed and an hour later she woke up and again heard the growling sound, but this time the sound was closer to her ear and it sounded really mad and resigned. My sister said she did not feel afraid at all and simply went to sleep again.

I know what we both experienced was the devil/demons quite upset that we are praying the Rosary. Has anyone else experience such growling/guttaral sounds after praying or specifically praying the Rosary (or are we just crazy)? I would be interested in hearing other people’s stories.

Nap, ask God’s angels to surround you in your house…
Have either your sister and you spoken to your priest.
May God bless you and your sister.

I’ll add to that excellent advice, to invite the priest over to bless your home.
You should have a crucifix above you bed. Do you? Keep holy water int he house as well.
God bless you, and pray the St. Michael prayer often.

no i have never seen or heard anything like that. i’d’ve thought that the demons run like the cowards that they are when you say the rosary

I was going to say a possum in the roof, but yes a house blessing would be very good.

Get some Holy water and laugh at the growling. Demons are pathetic losers and will do anything to try to make you stop praying/growing in faith. They are very weak, just say a prayer, laugh at the demons, and follow what the others have said.

I would add this to all the other suggestions: a Blessed St. Benedict medal. Place one over your exterior doors, interior doors, and carry one with you!

I put one on my rosary.

no one here can prove or disprove what you have personally experienced, if what you are saying is true, you are better off seeking advise from a priest who will take what you say seriously, which might take some patience and convincing on your part; an if a priest tends to just brush you off, and you are adamant just keep looking around for a priest who will believe you and help you.

demons know better than to waste their time on me so I cant say I have experienced any form of evil sounds after praying.

God Speed.

The devil despises the Rosary. What follows is fairly unknown and rarely if ever mentioned. On February 19th, 1858 during the fourth apparition at Lourdes, while saying the Rosary in the presence of Mary, St. Bernadette described an uninvited intruder in their midst. In Abbé François Trochu’s book, “Saint Bernadette Soubirous,” the author writes;
'On the way back to the Petits-Fosses, Bernadette revealed how at a certain moment the Apparition seemed different from before. Suddenly loud yells, belched from the Gave, had rent the sacred silence of Massabielle. They ‘challenged, crossed, collided with one another, like the clamour of a brawling crowd’. One voice, more furious than the rest, dominated them all and roared out: ‘Get out of here! . . . Get out of here!’ Bernadette guessed rightly that the threatening curse was by no means addressed merely to her humble self, but was an attack directed beyond her to the Vision of Light standing above the eglantine.

The Vision merely glanced in the direction of the rushing stream. This single look, one of sovereign authority, reduced the invisible mob to silence: the enemy of all good would not drive her from the grotto where she gave her audiences.

At Massabielle, the future was to prove that the Spirit of evil, in this burst of fury, had admitted his defeat; he was not to extinguish the great radiance that would issue from this dark, peaceful nook, where so many sinners would renounce sin!’
Think about that for a moment, and let it sink in. A simple glance, by the Queen of Heaven, silenced the “grappin” and his minions.

Invoke her sweet Name…and be at peace!

"Lord Jesus Christ, who suffered agony in the Garden of Gethsemane on behalf of sinful mankind, through the infinite merits of Your Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for sake of your most holy mother’s tears, please pray to your Father presently to send more than twelve Legions of angels to defend us, to bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the world, and to imprison in Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”

Jesus asked Peter during His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, “thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53).

“It is the Immaculata alone who has from God the promise of victory of Satan.” - St. Maximilian Kolbe

This is two or three hours after saying the Rosary. I’ve never heard the growling during my prayers. I know the demons hide and pop out later when “the coast is clear.”

Thanks to all who replied with advice. I will get holy water and try to bless the house. My rosary is from the Vatican when I visited so I don’t know if it is blessed or not (I assume not). A question about asking a priest to bless the house - do they do that often? I assume it would cost something? If I asked a priest to come bless my house wouldn’t he look at me funny if I told him the reason?

One more thing and I’m sure everyone will think I am making this up. There is a room in our house (my sister and I live together) where tiny black flies have appeared and keep appearing for no reason. We tried everything to get rid of them, caulked all the windows, vents, etc. This is the only room that has them. This only started when my sister started the Rosary. They will not go away and we have no clue where they are coming from. This room is upstairs where the growling is heard as well. We hung a crucifix in the room today. I know it’s probably just a natural occurrence but gee weird things keep happening all at once.

Something similar happened to me many years ago. When I was an atheist, I had a fairly sudden epiphany (too long to describe here) that perhaps God was real after all. I was lying in bed on my right side and after mulling it over in my head, had this thought: “Maybe there really is a God!” The instant I thought the word “God,” I very clearly heard a rapid-fire audible voice in my left ear that sounded harsh, hissy and angry. I had the impression that someone or something had it’s mouth about 3 inches away from my left ear. It was total gibberish to me, but it still sounded like intelligent speech. Speech from something non-human. It was pissed off, 'scuse my French, and it scared the you-know-what out of me. I was too terrified to sleep that night. The next day, I was invited to church and became a believer quick.

I do remember reading about a woman who said she was attacked in the night by a black shadow that paralyzed her until she started praying, then the shadow peeled itself off of her in a jiffy, like ripping apart two pieces of velcro. As it ripped off of her, she heard a growl coming from the right side of her bed.

So, yes. Others have had these encounters. Go get some holy water and go from room to room sprinkling the water and pray for God’s protection over your home and it’s occupants, in Jesus’ name. Pray the Our Father and Hail Mary and St. Michael in every room. The wicked ones will leave you alone. Peace.

I lived in a house with cold spots and voices. The weirdest thing happened around 1 in the morning. I was awakened by someone’s breath in my face. It smelled liked Juicy Fruit gum. My roommate, who was elsewhere in the house smelled the same thing. I asked the landlord about it and he said the place had been haunted for years. I didn’t call for a priest. I prayed to Jesus’ for His protection. I was very frightened, and I never spoke of it while I lived there.

Considering all the information that you have explained Nap66, I would recommend that you contact your Diocese and ask to speak to the Bishop or his secretary and state that you are having preternatural/ extraordinary occurrences in your home. He may ask you to explain these occurrences and should then be able to pass the information and your contact details to the local exorcist priest. If you live with your parents then please discuss with them first, discuss as a family and gain their permission.

You could be experiencing diabolical infestation linked to that specific room you mentioned. If this is the case and that your sister has just started to pray the rosery most likely is causing diabolical agitation. It is a good sign as this allows you both to seek help through the Catholic Church.

Please keep up the rosary, wear the amour of God, attend mass (at least once a week),receive the sacraments, go to reconciliation. You may think I am going over the top here but your circumstances sound extraordinary in nature and do require the full Authority of the Church.

These daily prayers are good to use during times of Spiritual Warfare. (Limit count got me here)

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesus, hear me; within your wounds, hide me; let me never be separated from you; from the evil one, protect me; at the hour of my death, call me; and bid me to come to you; that with your saints, I may praise you forever and ever. Amen.
Prayer for a Spiritual Canopy
Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me for all the times I have not submitted to your will in my life. Please forgive me for all my sinful actions, making agreements with the enemy, and for believing the devil’s lies. I now submit to you as my Lord, dear Jesus. Now I break every agreement that I have made with the enemy.

Lord Jesus, please send an assignment of angels to remove and bind to the abyss all demons and their devices that had access to me because I believed their lies. I now ask you to establish a hedge of protection around me, over me and under me, and seal it with your blood, Lord Jesus Christ.

I now choose to put on the full armor of God and ask that you cleanse me and seal me, body, mind, soul and spirit, with your blood, Lord Jesus Christ. Please have your angelic army bind up and remove all demons, their devices, and all their power from within this protective hedge and have them sent to the abyss.

Please have your angels destroy all demonic, occult or witchcraft assignments directed against me. Please have your angels stand guard over me and protect me from all attacks of the enemy. I thank you for establishing an impenetrable shield of protection around me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
You can find this verse in your Catholic Bible:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Eph 6:10-18

Indeed, demons are a real problem. However, St. Theresea of Liseaux mentioned demons, and said they were weak or something.
